AUTUMN ACADEMY

NATO IN A Changing GLOBAL SECURITY Environment

Lviv, Ukraine

The Autumn Academy is an educational event aimed at eliciting and conceptualizing the evolving role of the North Atlantic Alliance in a changing security environment in the world.

Recent political, economic and environmental developments in the world point to significant shifts in the structure of contemporary international order as well as what may be seen as development of a new framework of global security. The main objective of the Academy will be identifying and clarifying the nature of these changes and NATO’s role in the new global security configuration.

 

The Academy is intended for undergraduate and graduate students from top-ranking universities from Ukraine and several other member and non-member states. The programme of the event consists of expert and students discussions, live video conferences with the NATO headquarters in Brussels and a simulation game.

The event is hosted by the Faculty of International Relations of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Topic: Crisis Situation – anti-piracy scenario

ESSAY AND PRE-REGISTRATION FORM

Future participants are required to fill in a registration form (attached) and prepare a short essay (3-4 pages) in English on a subject related to the issues covered by the programme of the Academy. Selected essays will be published in a collection of reading materials prior to the Academy opening.

All page boundaries should be 2.5 cm with 1 line spacing using MS Word and Times New Roman font (14 pt.). The essay title should be centred and in bold, 16 pt., followed by the author’s name (14 pt., non-bold) and affiliations (12 pt.)

 

 

The essays are due on 25 September 2013 and should be sent to: autumnacademy2013@gmail.com

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

The working language of the Academy is English.

 

Travel expenses as well as lodging and catering will be covered by the Academy organizers. All students will be provided with a scholarship equivalent to €20.
