Ukraine has a wide diversity of natural health-improvement resources, many of them being unique. Health centers of Ukraine provide treatment for almost all diseases. The specific geographical, geological and hydrological patterns predetermined all possible types of resorts in Ukraine: balneal (based on mineral waters), mud-baths (mineral water and medicinal mud), climatic, and their various combinations.

Crimea is one of the unique places on the earth, a nature’s gift with curative and health-improving facilities. The most popular resorts on the southern coast are Yalta, Alushta and Alupka and a chain of smaller ones: Gurzuf, Partenit, Livadia, and Foros. These resorts are situated in the area of excellent climatic conditions. Subtropical vegetation, proximity of the sea and chain of mountains protecting the coast, all this provides settled weather conditions which are easy to adapt to. The ionized air, saturated with oxygen and phytoncids (фітонциди) help cure patients with specific respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological diseases. The western coast houses Evpatoriya and Saki spas of mineral water, salt and mud lakes. These resorts belong to the vast area with curative facilities where the main health-improving factors are the sunshine and sea, air and sand, brine (солена вода) and mud of the salt lakes, as well as mineral water of the hot springs. These resorts provide successful treatment for diseases of the locomotive, nervous, reproductive systems and diseases of the skin.

Kuyalnyk is a unique place since its mud has been recognized as standard in terms of its curative properties. Odesa region specializes in treatment of diseases of locomotive, cardiovascular, nervous, and respiratory systems.

Mykolaiv-Kherson region is well known for its steppes, sunshine and far-stretched beaches of the Black and Azov Seas. Ochakiv, Skadovsk, Lazurne resorts provide medical treatment for patients with heart and lung diseases. Shallow and warm, with its rich biodiversity (різноманітність живих організмів), the Azov Sea attracts many visitors. The sea air saturated with bromine and iodine together with herbs flavours from the steppe is a major factor in curing of the nervous, endocrine cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Most of the health resorts in the south of Ukraine are open all the year round. In winter one may enjoy sun, mud and seawater bath there as well.

Zakarpattya region is another major rest and recreation area rich in natural and health-improving resources. Splendid climate, mountain air and mineral water create perfect conditions for recreation and health-improving. The main curative factor of the region is springs of sodium hydrocarbonate and sodium hydrocarbonate chloride mineral water. Among the most popular brands of mineral waters produced there are Polyana Kvasova, Polyana Kupel, Luzhanska. Some of the springs can be referred to as rare or even unique. (For instance the Kvasy spa water containing arsenic (миш’як) can be also found only in Germany and the island of Sakhalin (Russia)). Curative natural factors and up-to-date medical facilities allow successful treatment of the digestive tract diseases as well as those of metabolism, cardiovascular, nervous and locomotive systems.

Truskavets, a small Ukrainian town often referred to as “pearl of the Prykarpattya”. The most popular spring is Naftusya which contains almost all microelements, various gases and microorganisms. Naftusya is a unique liquid of its kind and possesses a wide scope of curative properties. Low mineralization, active ions and organic components positively affect digestive system, help clean the intestine and kidneys.

Morshyn is situated in a beautiful valley among the pine and leafy forest. The major curative factors of the place are mineral waters of unique chemical contents and density, marsh mud and earth wax that will help for metabolism problems and diseases of the digestive tract.

Myrhorod also specializes in treatment of metabolism disorders, diseases of the digestive and other systems. In terms of its contents the water of Myrhorod is close to that of Baden-Baden.

Khmelnyk, a place in Vinnytska region, has been recognized as balneal resort after discovering there deposits of mineral water. The resort provides treatment of the locomotive, cardiovascular, digestive and nervous systems as well as metabolism and skin diseases.
