Why go back in time?

Some people want to go back in time to find the winning lottery numbers so they can make lots of money. This plan would probably cause the cancellation of the lottery because the same person would always win. Other people want to bring new technology to the past to surprise the people. For instance, a new car could be brought back 100 years and people would be amazed at the technology. Other people are interested in seeing old civilizations and to solve mysteries such as how the pyramids were built in Egypt.

If we went back in time we could see our great great great great grandparents.

CHANGING THE TIMELINE

A common theme is Star Trek is the changing of the timeline whenever anyone goes back in time. If, for instance, the captain goes back in time and destroys a planet. Everything that interacts with that planet would change or no longer exist. This is a problem with time travel. If we go back in time, we may change something that causes us to not exist now. If we no longer exist, than how could we have gone back in time? This is a paradox. A paradox is a situation that proves itself impossible.

Don’t change the timeline or you might erase yourself.
