Discursive composition.

Capital punishment is an extremely controversial issue. introducing topic. I’d argue that there is no place for c.p. in a humane, civilized society. giving opinion. F.e. the majority of people executed for murder in the U.S. are black. Giving an opinon.

Firstly, it is said that c.p. sends a message to society that murder won’t be tolerated, but it also clearly sends the message that killing is acceptable in certain circumstances. presenting an advantage.

Secondly, when a murdered is executed the family of the victim often feel that justice has been done. presenting an disadvantage.

Finally, there’ve been many occasions throughout history when innocent people’ve been executed. presenting two opposing points of view.

To sum up, there is little evidence that c.p. acts as a deterrent. presenting a conclusion.

Everybody can help to protect the environment.

There is no doubt the environment is in danger. Mankind has caused the world’s environmental problems & only man can solve. F.e. one of the causes of global warming is pollution from factories & cars. Government must persuade factories to take responsibility for reducing their pollution & car manufacturers to produce cars which don’t give out damaging exhaust fumes.

Nevertheless, there are things that individuals can do. Firstly, we can recycle our used plastic, glass & paper. If we do this, factories won’t have to produce so much. As a result, there will be less pollution. Finally, we can raise awareness about environmental issues & put pressure on governments & businesses to act responsibility.

In conclusion, one individual has little effect on protecting the environment. However, if we work together, we can all make the world a cleaner place.

I’m writing in response to your advertisement for your tour guides,which I read in the “Reporter”on 5^th June.I’d like to apply for one of the advertised positions.

I’m very interested in modern art&’d welcome the opportunity to inform visitors to the gallery. I’ve previously worked in a local museum, as U can see from my attached CV. The Museum Director, Mr. Jones, has kindly agreed to provide me with a reference, which I have enclosed with this letter.

Introduction

As requested, I have visited the new Bakeworth Toy Museum at 24, Pensilva St.,Bakeworth.My findings are presented/ outlined below.

Entrance fees

Entrance is free for children under eight. For those aged 8 to 16, entrance costs €1.50. The fee is €2.50 for adults.

The museum

Having been recently renovated, the building is in extremely good condition. The museum is large, with over twenty rooms full of toys & games from the past hundred years. There are many toys for visitors to actually touch & play with, so many tourists – children & adults alike – will find the museum interesting & entertaining.
