Title: Oxidative Dealkilation of Carbonyl Compound in DMSO Media

Title: Oxidative Dealkilation of Carbonyl Compound in DMSO Media

Objectives:

Oxidation reactions are of prime importance at an industrial level and in the nature. All known methods of oxidation have both advantages and disadvantages. One of the promising method is autooxidation of anions (carbanions?). This oxidation in the alkaline/basic media is known from the '50s. However, this reaction has received very little attention. This is somewhat surprising, since such transformation can be used for the synthesis of acids, α-hydroxy acids, as well as α- hydroxyketones.

Research goals:

Explore scope and applicability (limitations) of the autooxidation of anions reaction, optimize conditions of the transformation. Developing (develop) of the enantioselective α-hydroxylation reaction for carbonyl compounds, halogen-free haloform reaction, dealkylation of ketones. (too much for 1 sentence give 2 at least) Why DMSO (title)?

Expected results:

As the results of the research will receive environmentally friendly method for the autooxidation carbonyl compound to α-oxyketones and carboxylic acids. What king of substrates, reaction conditions, optimizations, bases, media.

Graphical abstract: Where are “autoxidations”? Arrows are too big. Anion is in bad position.
