St. Petersburg State University (the Faculty of Law) is pleased to invite you to 16th International Students Law Conference iSLaCo’2016 “Legal systems of BRICS countries: similarities and specificities”, which will take place on 13-16 April 2016 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Academic program

Participants of iSLaCo'2016 will have an opportunity to discuss various aspects of the central topic in discussion panels, namely:

· Legal guarantees of mutual business connections and direct investments within BRICS (in English);

· Freedom of market versus social solidarity: legal standards of BRICS (in English);

· Human rights standards of BRICS countries: the prospect of establishment of international court of human rights (in English);

· Common information and cultural space within BRICS: legal dimension (in Russian);

· Legal protection of national interests: strategies and methods of BRICS countries (in Russian).

Furthermore, participants are welcome to attend exciting workshops by outstanding professors and practicing lawyers from all over the world.

Application and participation

Candidates willing to take part in iSLaCo’2016 have to:

1. Sign up for a personal blog at http://islaco.com;

2. Choose one of discussion boards;

3. Submit abstracts of their presentations via participant’s personal blog at http://islaco.com. The deadline for abstracts is March 1, 2016. A number of characters is not determined.

Participants are strongly encouraged to discuss materials in blogs prior to the start of the Conference.

The Organizing Committee and the Academic commission that includes the Faculty’s academic staff will select candidates through competitive examination. Within the selection process legal quality of content of your statements, raising current legal problems and proposals of their solutions will matter.

The Organizing Committee will inform authors whose abstracts accepted for participation in the Conference, by March 15, 2016 as the latest. The list of participants will also be available at http://islaco.com/.

Working languages are Russian and English. Plenary session will run with simultaneous translation, sections will work in English or Russian (as noted above) only. In case of sufficient number of participants from China, simultaneous translation from Chinese can be also provided.

Additional information

There is no participation fee for attending iSLaCo’2016.

The Organizing Committee is ready to offer its assistance with accommodation and visa application process as well as provide participants with free meals on the Faculty of Law. Above all, our guests would be able to enjoy the cultural program including a city tour, tours to historical places that have played significant role in the development of the Russian jurisprudence and remarkable theatres.
