Special schools for special children

Unit 5

Special schools for special children

Good Afternoon. Let me introduce myself. My name is blablabla.

And the topic I’d like to deal with you today is blabla. I have worked in such school for many years and I think it would be interesting for you to know something about them.

1) Reasons of children’s aggressiveness

2) Things that I do with aggressive children

3) About some problem children

4) Advantages of my school.

If child is one of 6 or 7 children, it’s pretty sure that he is naughty and aggressive because he is rising out for attention and in this large family he’s found that a jolly good way of getting attention is to shout, be naughty. At least mummy turns round and says “be quite, be a good boy, or you’ll get this or that”. So some children are aggressive simply in order to gain attention. Aggressiveness usually is that it’s really the children crying out and saying “look at me’ please”. I’m not saying it’s the answer in all circumstances but it usually is.

But when one aggressive child comes to such school he is meeting other aggressive children, and aggressive children all together usually sum each other. Sometimes we organized fights. We have a ring and we have a boxing bell. We think that children must conform, they must keep up the rules, they have either lose or won, we discuss after a what it’s like to be the winner and be is what like a lose. We must win or lose and we must do each very gratefully.

But now, I’d like to show you some examples of aggressive children. I had one boy who cut off his dog’s ears! He also put a stone round his neck and round him I mean the dog. Then there was another one that used to attack me with anything at hands…I hit scissors. He tried to cut my hair once. So you have to be strong… both - Physically and mentally.

Now I’d like to tell you about some advantages of special schools. The classes are smaller for one thing. We only have groups up to 5 or 6. Whereas, in normal schools the number of pupils varies, it could be 30 to 40. So in our special schools every child does have individual attention every day. I’m not saying it always pays off, but they have had a chance.
