Today nearly everybody know exciting story about young wizard, named Harry Potter. The storyline tells us about ‘boy who survived’-Harry Potter and his faithful friends Ron Weasley and Hermoina Granger all f whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Since the release of the first novel ‘ Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ on 30 June 1997, the books have gained immense popularity, critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide.

J.K. Rowling is a British novelist, best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. The Potter books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold more than 400 million copies. They have become the best-selling book series in history, and been the basis for a series of films which has become the highest-grossing film series in history. Rowling had overall approval on the scripts as well as maintaining creative control by serving as a producer on the final instalment.

The novels revolve around Harry Potter, an orphan who discovers at the age of eleven that he is wizard, living within the ordinary world of non-magical people. His ability is inborn and such children are invited to attend a school that teaches skills to succeed in the wizarding world. Harry becomes a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it is here where most of the novels’ events take place. The main story arc concerns Harry’s quest to overcome the Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, whose aims are to become immortal, conquer the wizarding world, subjugate non-magical people, and destroy all those who stand in his way, especially Harry Potter.

The books’ greatest strength is style how they were written. The Harry Potter novels fall within genre of fantasy literature. However, in many respects there are also ‘coming of age’ novels, and contain elements of mystery, adventure, thriller, and romance. The series has also had some share of criticism, including concern for the increasingly dark tone. According to Rowling, the main theme is death. There are also many other themes in the series, such as prejudice and corruption.

All in all, Harry Potter books series are still worth reading. This storyline, that holds you excited from the beginning till the end makes people read those books again and again. In my opinion, those books will be popular for many years in future.
