It is a great pleasure for me to write a recommendation letter for Hrant Hovhannisyan whom I have known for 2 years. In spite of his professional interests focused on bioinformatics and molecular biology, Hrant Hovhannisyan from the very beginning proved to be enthusiastic about ethnogenomics project that we are working on. He quickly gained necessary knowledge in the field and soon became an important member of our laboratory. It was then that I had the opportunity to work with him on a daily basis – observing him closely as his supervisor.

H. Hovhannisyan has always been a prominent student of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. Worth mentioning the “Best Student” award which he received in 2012 for academic achievements.

Being the second year undergraduate student he worked in the frames of international project “The Genographic Project” (Moscow, Russia) as a trainee, where he gained important wet-lab working and bioinformatical skills. Besides, Hrant worked as a summer intern at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (Madrid, Spain) in the field of bioinformatics, what gave him multiple benefits both for his professional development and for future scientific career.

His accuracy, diligence, responsibility, and really mature approach in his dealings made me offer him the vacancy in 2011 at the Laboratory of Ethnogenomics, Institute of Molecular Biology, National Academy of Science. At the Institute, besides the wet-lab skills he also gained knowledge in the field of bioinformatics and statistics essential for human population genetics analysis.

Hrant is very reliable in his responsibilities and his work rarely needs much supervision. He is very bright and intelligent indeed. Seeing him at work gives me the confidence that he is a gifted researcher with strong professional ambitions.

Hrant Hovhannisyan is punctual and composed, with an urgent sense that his actions and decisions might influence others. He is mature – emotionally and intellectually – and maintains a remarkable composure under situations of stress. Finally, he is a hard working person, who has a solid awareness of high professional standards, with well developed ability to perform team-work.

On the personal level H. Hovhannisyan is an honest, patient, and disciplined person with a good sense of humor. Besides, he has a wide range of interests and mental outlook in general: he goes in for sports, is well read, and is socially concerned.

I am sure the above qualities will enable Hrant Hovhannisyan to operate outstandingly in any field of academic discipline or research, and I am strongly recommend him for any kind of activity, which could cultivate his professional and scientific skills.
