Jane Wilde under the pseudonym «Speranza» (it. "hope"), wrote poetry for the revolutionary movement "Young Irish" in 1848 and remained a lifelong Irish nationalist. Poems participants in this movement she read Oscar and Willie, instilling in them a love for these poets. Lady Wilde interest to neo-classical revival was evident by the abundance of ancient Greek and Roman busts and paintings in the house. William Wilde was leading in Ireland mapping ophthalmologist (eye surgeon and ear), and was knighted in 1864 for his service as a consultant and a medical assistant commissioner of the Census of Ireland. He also wrote books on Irish Archaeology and Folklore. He was a philanthropist and established a free medical clinic serving the poor of the city. Placed on the back of Trinity College Dublin, medical subsequently evolved into the city and ear eye hospital, which is now located at Adeleyd Road.
In addition to children from his marriage with his wife, Sir William Wilde was the father of three children born before marriage: Henry Wilson (born 1838), Emily and Mary Wilde (born respectively in 1847 and 1849., Girls do not consist in relationship with Henry). Sir William acknowledged paternity of illegitimate children and paid for their training, but they raised their family apart from his wife and legitimate children.
In 1855 the family moved into the house number 1 on Merrion Square, where my sister was born a year later, Wilde Isola. The new house was spacious, and thanks to the success of their parents and relations prevailed here, "a unique medical and cultural environment."
