Christmas for juniors “The Polar Express”

1. The Ticket collector enters the hall and starts to collect tickets, shouting:

“Tickets, tickets, please! Your ticket please! Give me all your tickets!”

1. All the heroes appear on the stage and greet the audience:

- Hello everybody! Wow! So many people!

- We are so glad to see you here today!

- Guys, do you believe in Christmas magic?

- And do you believe in Santa Claus?

- Today you’ll believe in everything! And we will help you!

- Because we will travel to the North Pole!!

- Together, by POLAR EXPRESS!!

- Do you know the song about the Polar Express?

- Great! Let’s sing it altogether!

2. Safety announcement

The conductor appears on the stage and starts to make a safety announcement:

- Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen! We are glad to see you here on the board of our Polar Express. To make your journey safe, please follow some instructions:

You can not be sad

You can not fight

You can not cry

You can not speak Russian

BUT!

You can have fun

You can smile

You can sing

You can dance

And you can enjoy your trip!

Thank you for choosing our train. We hope your journey is enjoyable!

And now, please help yourself to some refreshing drinks!

1. Dance “Coca-Cola”

At the end of the dance everybody fall down and ask each other what has happened. Somebody says that an emergency brake was used. The heroes express the great surprise

1. Symbols of Christmas

The snowman appears on the stage. He carries a ticket with him.

- Excuse me! Oh, hello everybody! Merry Christmas! Well, I’m in trouble, my dear friends. I missed my train, and I really need to be in the North Pole as soon as possible! Christmas is coming and I must be there on time to help Santa with presents! Will you be so kind to take me with you on your Polar Express? I’ve got a ticket! Look.

The heroes ask the children for permission to take the Snowman with them.

Everybody sit down, the sound of the moving train is switched on. The action lasts for a minute, then the Snowman says:

Guys! It is so boring! Let’s play a game with you! Tell me what symbols of Christmas do you know?

The children start to reply. First they do it individually, then it is possible to divide them into two big teems.

The Snowman: “Amazing! You know a lot of things connected with Christmas! And can you wish a Merry Christmas to me?”

The children shout “We wish you a merry Christmas!”

2. Aram Zam Zam

The elves are on the stage. They shout: “Look!! There are reindeer!! Are they Santa’s reindeer? Let’s come closer and see!”

The reindeer appear on the stage and invite everybody to dance with them.

1. Emergency!

Two hysterical engine drivers appear on the stage, they run around the hall for a while, bumping into each other.

- No no no!

- We must do something!!!

- That’s terrible!!

- Help! Help! Anybody!

The elves ask them what has happened.

- The Polar Express went down from the rail!!!!!

- We are in a biiiiig trouble!!!!!

TO SHOW THE VIDEO EPISODE

The elves say that everybody should be careful and strictly follow the instructions of the engine drivers. All the heroes on the stage show the example “Bend to the right everybody!!!”

Instructions:

- Bend to the right!

- Bend to the left!

- Bend forward!

- Bend backwards!

- Jump!

- Sit down!

- Bend to the left!

(to repeat the instructions if necessary)

1. Story Competition

Two reindeer appear on the stage and greet the audience

- Hello our dear friends!

- We are your dear reindeer!

- Yes, we are real Santa’s reindeer!

- Soon you’ll reach the North Pole!

- The Polar Express is very close to it!

- And you will meet Santa!

- But Santa gives presents to those children who tell him nice stories!

- Yes, he really likes interesting stories! About Christmas of course!

- So let’s get ready and prepare one good story!

The elves help the reindeer to explain the rules. The audience is divided into 6 groups, the are:

- Santa Claus (the kids wave their hand and laugh like Santa)

- Snowflakes (the kids turn around)

- Elves (the kids run on the place and pronounce some strange sounds)

- Bells (ding-ding)

- Reindeer (the kids make some reindeer sound)

- Christmas Carol (Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, how lovely are your brunches!)

Everybody shout “Merry Christmas!”

Then reindeer read the story and increase the tempo, to check the reaction.

Reindeer:

- Did you hear that bells ringing?

- Yes, they sound like Jingle bells!

- And I feel like singing and dancing!

- Let’s do it together!!

2. Christmas Dance

The elves say that the Polar Express reached the North Pole! Everybody’s happy! All the heroes appear on the stage, the hug children and each other.

- Now let’s dance our Christmas Dance of Happines! Join us!

1. Santa.

After Santa’s visit:

- So that was Santa.

- And where are the presents you may ask

- They are waiting for you!

- In some secret places that only your Christmas teachers know!

- And you can get there with the help of the

- POLAR EXPRESS!!!!!

- Merry Christmas everybody!!!!

The children make some kind of a train and go to their classrooms to get the presents.
