PhD position at the University of Lille 1 (France).

A PhD position is available at the university of Lille1 (France) in the field of modeling and simulation in geomaterials. Studies conducted by the candidate will focus on the application of simulation methods (ab initio and / or molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo) to understand and analyze the improvement of the properties of concrete in the presence of cement and lime under external constraints.

The candidate must have a solid knowledge of crystallography, classical and quantum mechanics as well as a good knowledge of computer language. Previous experience on ab initio or molecular dynamics is desirable. Knowledge of the broad field of civil engineering (especially civil engineering materials) is a plus but not a requirement.

This thesis will be supported by the French Ministry of Research for a period of 3 years. The candidate will prepare his/her thesis at the Laboratory of Civil Engineering and geoenvironment (LGCgE) in the geomaterials group led by Professor Zaoui.
