ACROSS перебираться, переправляться, пересекать, e.g. Don’t try to get across while the lights are against you.

ALONG 1. преуспевать, e.g. How are you getting along with your work? 2. справляться, обходиться без (with, without), e.g. Don’t worry about money, we shall get along all right. I hope he’ll get along with the work. I am sure you can’t get along without him.

IN (INTO) 1. входить, садиться (в трамвай и т.д.), e.g. I forgot the key and couldn’t get in. The bus is starting, we must get in. We got into the car. 2. приносить, e.g. Will you get some chairs in? 3. прибывать, e.g. The train got in on schedule. 4. убирать в помещение (урожай, сено и т.п.), загонять скот e.g. It was a long dry summer and the harvest was easy to get in. I must get on with my work. 2. ладить, бытъ в хороших отношениях, e.g. You could hardly expect two people of opposed temperaments to get on well. I’ve always got on very well with my colleagues.

OUT 1. выходить, вылезать e.g. When the plane landed he was the first to get out. 2. вытаскивать, вынимать e.g. I can’t get the key out. My children like to swim so much that I can’t get them out of the water. The position is difficult but there is no getting out of it. 3. (to) дозвониться, e.g. We tried to telephone you last night but the line was busy and we couldn’t get through. The line is constantly engaged. I can’t get through to him. 4. тратитъ (время, деньги и т. д.). e.g. They’ve got through the money you gave them.

UP 1. вставать, поднимать (с постели), e.g. He asked me to get him up at 7.30. 2. подниматься, усиливаться (о ветре, пожаре), e.g. In the afternoon the wind got up and increased to a gale. 3. организовывать (вечер), ставить (пьесу), e.g. What do you say to our getting up a party?
