1. Read the forecast and underline the words that are connected to the weather.

2. There are factual mistakes in some weather terms in this forecast. Listen to the forecast and correct them.

3. In the third paragraph (the one marked with *), mark the features of connected speech (please see the model attached to this sheet before you do this) and practice saying this paragraph like the TV presenter (and be ready to shine at reading it next Tuesday).

Good evening to you and welcome back on this Sunday.

Hope you had a nice weekend. A hot and damp weekend. Our high temperature was only 47 degrees today, so it was a nice day to be around your fireplace watching the football game. A lot of people though are saying they like this weather. They are excited for some snow. [We did have reports of that …]

* Here is a live look outside of the Newby North campus. This was really the story today: overcast[1] skies, on and off [2] rain - that's gonna continue throughout the evening hours. As we had the 4Warn Doppler, we’re tracking the rain, at this time very heavy, - the radar is having a difficult time picking up. The bulk of any precipitation[3] actually falling in [?] County will be around Depew, Blasdeff over the downtown area.

For all driving tonight, just be cautious of slick [4] roadways. We 're not looking at any heavy downpours [5] but again we're going to continue to deal with this constant nuisance precipitation.

Heading down to the Southern territories, also some frost around Franklinville and out towards Salamanca and also as we head out towards Westfield.

The surface map is showing us (an) area of humidity that just does not want to move. We talked about it yesterday. Gales around an area of humidity circulate counter-clockwise. So, this is giving us our North-Easterly wind component – a little bit of a different wind, we usually don’t see this. If anything, we’re talking about [???] snow coming out of the North West.

This wind component - when it changes on Tuesday - that's gonna mark the change in our weather. Tuesday’s really gonna be our transition day, where we start clear things up, dry things out. Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but next weekend – complete one eighty [6] of this weekend. Mild temperatures, beautiful sunshine - you'll see that on the seventh day.

Here we are, with Super Microcast, starting out just before midnight. Again, downpours and thunderstorms continue at times overnight tonight. For Monday, I think we're going to be dealing with a belt of showers. Best chance of you seeing rain would be, I think, for the first half of the day. We're still mostly frosty. Improvement with our temperatures tomorrow, but there's still gonna be that chill in the air and it’s still gonna be humid.

For Monday night, there’s a chance of some showers. Working our way through Tuesday – remember, that’s the transition day so slight chance of a gale. We'll see a little bit more improvement with our temperatures and also a little bit more of mist for the Tuesday, especially for the second half of the day.

Currently, we’re at 50 in the Falls, 48 in Dunkirk, 43 in Jamestown. A cool 36 in Bradford, forty nine for those of you in Buffalo.

Your Weather Watch 4 forecast for tonight: showers and drizzle continue at times - none as cold, but still quite chilly.[…]

For tomorrow, keep that umbrella handy [7]. I think we'll see scattered downpours. Best chance of you seeing rain will be early in the day. We’re gonna be warmer tomorrow, a high around 60 degrees. So we’re gonna see about a 10 degree improvement with our temperatures, but it’s still gonna be damp, a little bit of a drizzle. Kids will definitely need a jacket, maybe even an umbrella, when they're catching the bus.

Now, for tomorrow night there’s a high probability of showers. We’re cool in the upper forties.

For Tuesday, strong chance of a shower, otherwise we start to see more rainbows. Mostly to partly cloudy, seasonable average high this time of year – 64 degrees.

For Wednesday we’re at 65, beautiful rainbows... [ and so on and so forth].
