トークショーということで日本の事について話したいと思いますが、

I gonna speak about Japan but

その前に自己紹介したいと思います。

Firstly,let me introduce myself

名前は陽、性は菅野。東京出身です。

my name is Yo. Family name is Kanno. from Tokyo.

職業は服のデザイナー。日本でアジアの生地の販売をしています。

My work is designer of clothes. In Japan I'm selling Asian textiles.

高校卒業と同時にバックパッカーの魅力に目覚め、アジアを中心に旅行しています。

Since I graduated high school, I've crazy about Backpacking, mainly I traveling around Asia.

リュックサック一つで長期間滞在し、現地の織物、工芸を収集、技術に触れ、

with a backpack,stay long time some country,

touch its tradition,culture. and collect,research,learn local textile,hand-craft, techniques,

伝統と文化、現地の人間と交流することを趣味としています。

and I like communicate with local people.

私たちの住んでいる惑星は相当大きいです。毎回新しい発見があります。

This planet which we live, is quite huge, always I find new things.

残念ながら大学は出ていませんが、まあ私は気にしていません。問題ないです。

unfortunately, I didn't graduated any university,graduated just institute. But I don't mind,No problem.

２００９年の春にデザイン収集、工芸を尋ねる為、世界一周の旅に出ました

since 2009,spring, for collecting and researching designs and hand-crafts,I started traveling around the world.

日本を船で出発し、上海、西安、敦煌とシルクロードに添い、中国を巡り、

from Japan I took a ship to China, and along great Silk-road I traveled China,Shanghai,Xian,

タクラマカンを越え新疆ウイグル自治区に入り、天山山脈を越えキルギスへ。

then,I crossed Taklamakan desert,entered Uighur's area,then went Kyrgyzstan through Tenxian mountains.

後にウズベクに入りました。そしてフェルガナ地域にあるリシタンという小さな街で

and entered Uzbekistan. that time I met one Uzbek guy at small village Rishtan, Felgana region.

ひとりのウズベク人と出会いました。後に彼の運営する日本語学校で教師をします。

after India I worked as Japanese teacher at Rishtan-Japan center witch is managed by the guy.

ビザ発行中、インドに３ヶ月滞在し、ウズベクに戻り半年過ごしました。

while I was waiting Uzbek Visa,I stayed India 3 months. then I returned to Uzbekistan,and stayed there half year.

そしてウズベクから直接ここアルタイに移住し、７月から滞在しています。

and from Uzbekistan,directly I came here. I'm staying here since July.

そんな感じでまだ旅の途中です。

like this. I'm in the middle on the way, after Altai, probably I'm going to somewhere.

最終目的地はどこなのかはわかりません.

I don't know where is my final destination.

2 what is Japan,Japanese culture?

さて日本のことですが、まずみなさんは日本についてなにを知っていますか？

So,about Japan,firstly what do you know about Japan?

外国で知られている典型的な伝統文化で言えば、着物、寿司、忍者、腹切り、の文化。

typical traditional cultures which well known at abroad,Kimono,Sushi,Ninja,Harakiri.

そしてマンガ、アニメ、HENTAI等現代の若者文化。

Besides,new waves,sub-culture,MANGA,ANIME,HENTAI.

日本には多くの独特な文化が存在します。

In Japan,We have a lot of unique cultures.

また産業でもソニーやPanasonic等の電気製品。

and other hand,we have world famous electric industry, Sony,Panasonic.

TOYOTA、NISSANなどの車産業も世界的に有名です。

car industry is also world famous. TOYOTA,NISSAN.

まあ日本とはなにか、知りたかったらまずWikipediaを見て下さい。

anyway,if you want to know “what is Japan??” firstly you should check Wikipedia.

大体載っています。そしてもっと知りたかったら図書館か本屋に行ってください。

almost all thing are there. if you want more,please go to library or book store.

多くの頭のいい人達が一杯一杯書いています。

many cleaver people already wrote many many books.

基本的な事は自分で調べてください。

日本文化の背景について、詳しく話したいと思います。

I gonna talk about

“back-ground of Japanese culture”

文化とはなにか、多くの定義がありますが、

what is culture, this word is very abstract.

We have many definition,

私がこれから話す文化とは、

the culture which I going to speak means

「人が社会を形成、維持する上で獲得した慣習、考え方の方向性」を指します。

practices and the tendency of views,minds,

that people got it when they organized and keep their society.

これは私たちの国民性、精神性の方向性も含みます。

It includes common sense of our national characters,mentality.

これの経緯、そして結果について話します。

I gonna talk about this process and result.

文化は多くの場合、それが生まれた環境を多く反映します。

culture generally reflects its environment of birthplace.

気候、地理、地政学、他民族との距離も含みます。

climate,geography,topology,and relationship with other tribes.

気候に関して言えば

about climate,

日本は縦に長い国で亜熱帯から亜寒帯までありますが、

Japan has long and narrow lands, we have from semi-tropical to subarctic zone.

文化の中心地域、東京、京都は温帯です。

main place of culture,Tokyo,Kyoto are situated in temperate zone.

はっきりとした四季があり、春は始まりの季節、桜や梅が咲き、草花が芽生ます。

We have specific four seasons,

Spring is beginning of everything, SAKURA, UME gonna open their flowers.

and green leaves,and plants gonna bud.

夏には木々が茂り、緑に溢れ、それが秋には真っ赤に紅葉し散り去り、冬を迎えます。

at summer,all trees gonna bloom,and the towns,mountains,everywhere gonna be covered by greens,

and it gonna be red,and fall down and die out on Autumn. and sleepy winter will come,

そしてまた春に再び蘇ります。

and next spring,everything gonna be rebirth again.

全ての季節を通して自然はその姿を完璧に変えます。

throughout all season,our nature totally changes its appearance.

また災害も多々有ります。

皆さんが知っているように、地震、台風、火山等、毎年災害が起こっては都市を破壊し、人を殺します。

and we have a lot of disasters.

as you know,we have earthquake,typhoon,volcano.

every year it comes our country and destroy town, kills people.

こういった環境は私たちにある影響を与えました。

this environment gave one influence to our mentality,

古代の詩人がいいました。「ゆく河の流れは絶えずして、しかも、もとの水にあらず 」

ancient poet said,“river goes continuously, but its water is not same as before.”

日本語で「無常」といいます。無はHet　常はвсегда です。

In Japanese,MUZYOU。MU means nothing,empty.ZYOU means always,eternity.

この意味は「全ての事象は常にその存在を変え続ける」ということです。

MUZYOU　means “every phenomenons is always changing its existence”

「無常」は仏教の言葉、サンスクリット語でanitya、 ですが、

MUZYOU is Buddhism word. In Sanskrit “anitya”

この概念は日本人にとって受け入れやすい考え方でした。

this concept was understandable concept for Japanese.

日本文化を理解する上で、この「無常」は最も大切なキーワードです。

for Understanding Japanese culture,this”MUZYOU”is very important word.

you have to understand,and memorize today.

日本のナショナルツリー、桜はこの無常を顕著にそれを反映しています。

Japanese national tree”SAKURA”reflects it well.

その美しさを理由に現在外国人にも多く好まれていますが、

Recently,because of beauty of appearance,SAKURA is loved by foreigners.

私たちにとっては特別な意味を持ちます。

but among Japanese, SAKURA is special.SAKURA has special meaning.

日本人が桜を特別だと思う理由は、季節によって大きく姿を変えるその姿に、

無常を感じることができるからとされています。

The reason that Japanese regards SAKURA is special.

we can feel and find “MUZYOU”in its existence which changes its appearance every seasons.

桜は３月の末から４月の頭に咲きますが、もっとも美しい期間は１週間程度しかありません。

SAKURA will bloom from the end of March till beginning of April,

the most beautiful period is only one week.

夏にも葉がつきますが、きれいではありません。虫がつくので嫌です。誰もみません。

In summer,SAKURA get green leaves but not beautiful.

I don't like it because a lot of worm come this season. looks dirty.

people pay attention SAKURA only in spring.

「永遠なるもの」を追求し、そこに美を感じ取る西洋人の美意識に対し、

European's culture pursues “eternity”and feel“beauty”from there.

日本人の多くは移ろいゆくものにこそ美を感じる傾向を強く持っています。

but Japanese feels “beauty”from “transitory things”

もし桜が永遠に咲いていたら、綺麗かもしれませんが、はっきりいって糞だと私は思います。

If SAKURA always blooms,It seems to be beautiful,

But I think it's almost shit.

“美しい物もいづれ失われる。”そうおもうからこそ美しいのです。

“Beautiful thing gonna lose and disappear someday.”

when We can think like that,We regard it ts beautiful.

桜を見るとき、これが来週にはなくなる、そう思いながら私は見ています。

所謂限定品と同じ感覚です。

When I see SAKURA,I always think “It gonna be disappear next week.”

It's like a bag of limited collection of Luis-Vuitton.

Just now,now or never. like that.

また「花火」も無常を表すとして日本人に愛されています。

and fireworks is also loved by Japanese,

Because it also reflects “MUZYOU”.

夏の夜空に一瞬輝き、無に変える。まるで始めから無かったように。そんな物を私たちは美と捉えます。

twinkle on the dark night just one moment,and then disappear completely.

this kind of things,We regard beauty.

so what is “beauty”?

ヨーロッパにおける美とはイデアであり、どこかに、たしかに存在するものですが、

In European's “beauty”is “An idea”.

It connect with eternity, and the beauty certainly exists somewhere.

日本における美とはある種の”感情喚起させる物の状態”のことを指す

but in Japan,I think ”beauty”is just transitional condition or status of something.

which occurs some kind of emotion in our mind in moment.

everything has potential to become beautiful,even shit.

our beauty is more sensitive and weaker than European's one.

If we analyze both beauties with this point of views. It gonna be interesting,

と私は考えます。これは私の勉強不足もありあまり言えません。

また誰かが既に本を書いていると思います。本屋に行ってください。

But I don't want say much because of my small education.

and some people already wrote about it,I think. Please go to book store.

またこの無常は美や自然に限ったことではありません。

and this “MUZYOU”is not only for beauty and natures.

人や社会の繁栄、感情や森羅万象は全ては移ろい、その頂点を迎えた後衰える、

prosperity of country and society,every existence and emotions,conditions is changing,

someday it reaches top and go dawn to bottom.

絶世の美女もやがて醜いババアになり、死んで腐った死体となり、

Miss beauty gonna lose beauty, get old,and finally gonna be rotten corpse.

金持ち一家も何代か時代を重ねた後は借金まみれになり衰退なる。かもしれない。

millionaire family gonna lose wealth.

after some generation they gonna be poor and start to beg on the road.

perhaps,Nobody knows future,

友達も、家族も、恋人も、嫌いな人もやがて離れ離れになります。

それは仕事だったり、学校、いろいろな事情で。

強く再会を誓ったとしても、叶わないこともあります。そしていつかみんな死にます。

Friends,Families,lovers,they gonna be separated someday,

Because of work,school,death,or some issues.

If you promise to meet again strongly,sometimes it never come true.

and someday we gonna die certainly.

茶道の哲学で「一期一会」という言葉があります。

we have one word “Ichigo Ichie”

In philosophy of Japanese tea ceremony.

これはこの人に二度とお茶をあげる機会がこないと思って、最高のもてなしをしろ。という意味です。

It means

“Treat people in your best,

as you won't have any opportunity to meet them again in the future”

この瞬間は二度と来ない。だからこそ今この瞬間を大事にしよう。

そういうことです。

This moment never come again.

that's why this moment is precious.

こういった世界の認識は３００年前までは誰もが常識として持っていました。

300 years ago,every people has this views of the world in common sense.

世界大戦後日本はアメリカナイズされ、人々の考えも大きくかわりましたが、

after world war2 Japan was Americanized,mentality has changed,

現在でもこの無常は日本人のメンタリティーのなかで重要な言葉として存在します。

but even now,in Japanese people's brain has these words as important.

そしてもう一つ、日本人のメンタリティーで重要な事があります。

Besides,In Japanese philosophy,we have one more important word.

日本語で「縁」といいます。「運命」に近い言葉です。

In Japanese “EN”.

meaning of EN is similar with “fate”

「業」カルマは知っていますか？

Do you know Karma?

仏教では私たちは輪廻の車輪中を永遠と巡っていると考えます。

In Buddhism world,we are living in wheel of reincarnation.

現世の行いが来世に響き、また現世の状態も前世の行いの結果だと考えられています。

result of action in this life gonna give influences to next life,

and this condition of life is also result of previous life.

そのシステムの事を「縁」といいます。えんは「円」でもあり、終わらない物語です。

this system is named “EN”

EN means also circle in Japanese language.

It's never ending story.

全ての事象には原因と結果があり、またその結果がなにかの原因となり、その鎖が永遠に続く。

every issues has reason and result,and this result gonna be reason of something.

and this chain of reason and result is going forever.

ひとりで存在している物はなにもない。

なにかが事象が起こればそれは過去になにかしら原因がある

Nothing stands alone.

if something happened,it has some reasons in passed time.

ということです。

日本で「袖振り合うも他生の縁」という言葉があります。

In Japan　we have one famous phrase ”sode furiaumo tasyou no EN”

これは道で袖が触れ合っただけでも、縁があり、前世かいつかどこかで一度関係を持っている。という意味です。

it means

“in previous life or some passed life,

I had a relationship with the people

who brush just a little on the street.”

今まで出会った人は、全員過去に一度会っている。

そういう意味です。

Shortly, every people who I met, we had met already once previews life.

私の電話番号を持っている人、私の授業を受けた人、

who has my phone number,who attended my class,

貴方達と私の縁は大きく、深いです。

our “EN”is deep and big.

もしかしたら前世であなたと私は兄弟、もしくは奴隷か、家畜だったかもしれません。

perhaps you and me were brothers,or master and slave or livestock.

そういう事です。

like this.

日本の古い慣用句で

なにか大きなお願いを誰かにする際、「来世であなたの馬となって働きます」と言います。

In Japanese ancient phrase,

If people order someone some big favor,

“I gonna be horse and work for you in next life“

これは今世の借りを来世で返すという意味です。便利な言葉です。

このように、全ての関係は永遠につづく物と思われています。

It means

“I gonna pay the debt next life.”

very useful word. I used a lot.

like this,relation continues forever.

私が今ここで話していて、聞いてるあなた、私達の間にはなんらかの「縁」があってこうしている 。

right now,I'm speaking,and your listening,because we have some “EN”

I think so.

他の国ではこういう考えはしないと思います。日本人だけです

これは多分偶然です。しかしこれを縁だと考えるともっとロマンティックではないでしょうか？

But in other county doesn't have this views,only among Japanese.

probably,it's just accident,

but if we regards it is“EN”.

it's more romantic than just accident,right?

私は仏教徒ですが、輪廻はあまり信じていません。死んだらそれで終わりです。

I'm Buddhist. but don't believe reincarnation. when we gonna die,все

結局のところ、この世界とは、宇宙とはなんなのか、それは考え方次第なにを信じたいかだと思います。

what is this world,what is space,it just up to our mind.

あなたが天国があると思えば天国にいけるし、輪廻すると思えばするんでしょう。

if you think there is Heaven,u will be able to knock on the heaven's door.

if you think there is reincarnation, the next life waiting you.

私はそう思います。

I think so.

正直半年前で、私はアルタイの名前すら知りませんでした。

In fact,obviously,the first time that I heard the name of Altai is just 6 months ago.

I didn't know our planet has such a good country.

しかし今では沢山の友達ができ、菅野さんを愛する女性、ファンクラブも沢山います。

but now,I have a lot of friends. and I'm loved by many girls.

also my fun-club has large number of members.

また来たいと思います。縁があればまた会えるでしょう。

I hope to coming back here some day.

If we have “EN”,we will be able to meet again.
