Should Abortion Stay Legalized

Britton Doug. “The Bible and Abortion: What Does God Say?” Christian Bible Study on God, Abortion and the Bible

This web site brings up arguments according to what is said in The Bible. I always said that we, people, are not allowed to decide who is going to live and who is not, it is for god to decide. Although the Bible does not use the terms "abortion" or "pro-life," that doesn’t mean that God doesn't care about abortion. There are countless wrong things that are not mentioned by name in the Bible. But rather than list everything that would be against God's will, the Bible gives us guidelines and principles that we can apply to the issues that come up in our lives. For example The Bible does not specifically use the word "abortion," but it's clear about "murder." You shall not murder (Exodus 20:13).

Conor Aaron. Issues, Article “Reason Why Abortion Should Remain Legal”. December 23, 2007.

The debate as to whether abortion should be legal or not has been a long-standing issue, and it is not going to go away anytime soon. The article brings arguments such as: if the woman is raped, and becomes pregnant, the issue if the mothers life is at stake, and goes against God, saying that meanings change throughout centuries, and what was once considered nefarious, may now be considered normal, or vice versa. A woman should have the right to decide whether or not she wants to keep a child. If women were to lose that right then they might take drastic measures, which would probably cause more harm then good. Just let the mother decide. In the end, legal or illegal, the mother will still be the one to make the choice.

Dr. R.C. Sproul. “Abortion: A Rational Look at An Emotional Issue”. Publication date: November 1,2010.

In this book, Dr. R.C. Sproul employs his unique perspective as a highly experienced pastor-theologian and a trained philosopher to provide well-considered and compassionate answers to the difficult questions that attend termination of pregnancy. Dr. Sproul strives for a factual, well-reasoned approach informed by careful biblical scholarship. He considers both sides of this issue in terms of biblical teaching, civil law, and natural law. This edition includes a new foreword by Dr. George Grant and has been updated to reflect developments in the issue. Appendixes provide further background on the issue of when life begins and list sources for pro-life resources.

Gordon Doris. “Abortion and the question of a person”. Libertarians for life, Copyright 1978

This article answers the question: When do we become a person?, which will be very useful for me trying to prove my point of view. If the notion of the person refers to anything, it refers to something that ought not to need to be continually defended and proven. There is something "special" about the person, an inherent inviolability, a value. This is something essential. It is not something that can be acquired somewhere along the line, to be lost or regained; it is just there. And that is the foundation of rights: the chief of which is that innocent life shall not be killed.

Rodgers Jessica, 23/02/2012. Journal “National Right to life”, founded in 1968, recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement.

Brings up USA as an example were abortion is legal. Talks about the point of view that abortion will “take us backwards” as the pro-abortions say and that the legislatures declared that there is substantial scientific evidence that the unborn child is capable of experiencing great pain during abortion procedures by 20 weeks after fertilization.

Rocco Pauline and Johnson Bob. Article «World Union of Deists», 2009.

“Belief in God + God Given Reason= Deism”. This article brings up two good situations when abortion should be legal. It draws a distinction between abortion for convenience sake, and abortion for medical reasons, as well as abortion in the limited cases of rape. As well as that the authors state the fact that every person has a right to their own body and can do to it whatever they want. However the unborn baby, is a distinct individual. Its DNA is completely its own. From the moment of conception, it is an entirely separate genetic individual. That means that a woman has a right to do as she wishes to her own body, but since the mother’s body is different from her baby, abortion is not applicable if the question is about abortion.
