Demonic Invasion IV in Project: Believe.

Demonic Invasion IV in Project: Believe.

It's early in the morning, birds have yet to wake up and the people are still sleeping in the city. The silence in the harbour is broken though, by an Octulhu. This mighty demon is the first wave sent on the Capital of League, Novograd.

* * *

As the Octulhu ravages the harbour, the citizens of Novograd wake up to the sight of Demon Scouts entering the capital. Here a Cleric is arming herself with a staff, preparing to face the intruders.

* * *

The demon invasion keeps pushing forward, now seizing most of the Trade District.

* * *

The failed campaign through Trade District drew the demons attention to the Gibberling District. Gibberlings got caught up in the weak spot of the defence.

* * *

The breach to Main Square, Aidenus Tower. Soldiers rush to stop the demons before they over run the city, under cover of Kanian Artillery.

* * *

Aidenus Tower. Sarn's attack on Novograd haven't gone unnoticed - The Director decided Sarn has had his fun and sends his army of keepers to smite the demons out of the city. Aidenus, seeing both Gods as heretics and filthy scum's, decides it would at the moment be better if the massacre ended...even if it only traded one tyrant for another...

* * *

Sarn may have lost this battle, but two things are sure for his war - Nezebgrad has equally weak defences... and the Director doesn't have enough followers to throw out at a second battlefield. He might be powerful, but Sarn has minions, and this time he wont satisfy with weaklings, it's time to send in the elites.

* * *

Chapter 2 - Nezebgrad

Sarn's defeat in Novograd meant two things, the Directors attention is drawn to the chaos in the League Capital...and Nezebgrad haven't been informed of the situation - they are equally helpless since their champions are gone as well. So Sarn opens a portal in the heart of the capital, a task that would have been difficult if it was under different circumstances.

* * *

In order to deploy portals and summon his army Sarn needs a distraction, and it came to Bort Quarter. Nezebians, despite their lack of champions and soldiers, armed themself to the teeth and started to fire before even the alarm went of. The League may think many bad things about Imperials, but combat readiness is not one of them.

* * *

The Nezebians fight against the distraction while Sarn smuggles in his army pass the occupied guards.

* * *

Sarn breaks through to Yasker's Tower and gets overrun by Yasker Hawks.

* * *

Sarn Finds Yasker's Office empty... Is it a trick, is this another one of Nihaz's tricks? No, Yasker got away before it was too late, but what will he do now?

* * *

The ground trembles, the sky flares and the air burns as a massive object approach the capital. The Director might have lost time dealing with Novograd, but he has yet to show his crown jewel in his endless armada of destruction

* * *

Chapter 3 - The Second Astral Campaign

Both Yasker and Aidenus receives orders instructing them to rally the astral navy and head for Sector B-11, an area the Director has kept secret from his allies. Except minor details all they are let on is that the location is of vital importance in the ongoing war against Sarn. Whatever they do, the mission has to be completed, no hesitation permitted... That and one odd round item that looks strangely similar to a demonic portal in miniature, "to be used when you reach the goal"

* * *

Aidenus is first to send his troops to the Director's target. His fleet was safe in Farshore Shipyard when the demons attacked the capital - Yasker was less fortunate and has to repair his vessels.

* * *

The League faces the demons near the border to Sector B-11. The battle ravages on for hours...

* * *

Several League ships are lost to the demons attack...

* * *

Brave soldiers and marines fight against the savage demons...

* * *

The League is overrun by the demons, one by one the ships are lost to the attack, what will help these soldiers?

* * *

The Imperial Navy arrives, jumping right in the middle of the battle, starting to shoot at anything that moves. The demons flee, now hunted down by the Empire and the league troops.

* * *

The League and the Empire join together and head for their goal, the desolated, secret allod, B-11... What has the Director hidden here, and more importantly; why has he sent his allies here?

* * *

They approach the allod, facing much resistance. The cultists fire every artillery they have, uses every spell they know, but is it enough? No, the ships bombards the defences and defeats the enemy.

* * *

The League and the Imperial troops lands on the allod and enters the temple. In the foreground they find a huge statue of an arisen women bowing to the gazing sun... what hides behind the doors?

* * *

The soldiers steps into the temple and gasp at their discovery...

* * *

"Welcome my children of the light, corrupted by the darkness. Don't fear, You see me the way you want me to be, some of you see me as your long dead Zem Queen, others as Tensess or Nezeb. I know why you're here, its been foretold thousands of human years ago, the day when I decided to defile the Darkness's prison and break my chains.

You see, there can not be light without darkness, night without day or life without death. Darkness and Light has always strived for balance, for as long as we have existed there has always been creation, and there has always been destruction - neither one good or evil, just a necessity for the universe to coexist with the Astral.

What does the Astral have to do with us? It's the nothingness of everything and everything of nothingness! It's the canvas where Light and Darkness create and destroy their children.

But you're not here to learn about the Astral, you're here because the Darkness has grown tired of the Light's defiance. Why? The Darkness and the Light fought a majestic battle once, due to an anomaly that made it impossible for those two forces to work together...

To make it easy for you: a random, tiny little particle slipped and made it so that Light and Darkness found them self stuck in a battle over who has the right to intervene... With that I mean who would either "create" or "destroy" it. And that is where we are today, Darkness won and banished Light to a prison you mortals refer to as Sarnaut..."

* * *

"So why has the Darkness sent you here? You remember those tiny, round items, similar to demonic portals that you received? Don't be afraid, You're in my prison, I may be chained up but that doesn't mean your thoughts are not under my reign.

Those items, joint together, would...or should, if you follow the Darknesses will, destroy me. Of course it won't kill me, the Light. I'm just one of the thirteen crystals holding back my free will. So far I've done my will through mortals, if you free me with those portals you'll unleash me...

But that doesn't make sense does it? It doesn't, Darkness has decided that I'm once again needed. His prison is failing, and what's even worse is that the Astral is consuming Sarnaut and all life, meaning his worshippers are dying... and he's addicted to his minions worshipping him and I'm the only one capable of stopping the Astral and reverse the damage, which would allow his ego to prevail.

Do you remember what I told you about the Astral, or have you forgot already mortals? The Astral is a canvas, and like its metaphor the Astral is not unlimited, it follows basic rules - for every creation there has to be a destruction, and we "Gods" have interfered with the balance too much, which you should find ironic since we are balance itself and are now being punished for our arrogance.

Darkness needs me to restore balance for two reason:

His Cataclysm that killed millions and my creations, the demons. I evolved into the shadow of darkness thanks to my minions but Darkness never balanced it. He has surely tried but Darkness has always let his ego go beforehand what is best for everyone. He knows that he can not be the dominant, but he refuses to acknowledge this.

Nonetheless, your task is to free me, he'll surely send you later on to take care of the other two crystals of me left in this world.

Or have you second thoughts about this decision? Don't want to become manipulated? Your entire existence is a fraud and you better overcome your ignorance if you wish to survive. In the end it doesn't matter to us "Gods", we'll always prevail, question is if you wish to be around in the future..."
