The 2012 S/S edition of Japan Fashion Week (aka Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week) in Tokyo is under way! Several times each day, TokyoFashion.com’s contributors are reporting back from runway shows and events all over town. Be sure to check out all of our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo coverage.
On Monday, October 17th, Japanese label fur fur showcased their 2012 Spring/Summer collection on the runway at Laforet Museum Harajuku.
Named after creator Aya Furuhashi, fur fur began in 2005 under the name FUR. The label was first centered around “action painting and handmade creation”. It broadened focus in 2006, when it was launched as an independent fashion brand. The name was changed to fur fur in 2008.
The fur fur 2012 S/S Collection show at Japan Fashion Week was not a runway show, but rather an exhibition where live models sat around tables wearing conceptual outfits that – while extreme – fell squarely within the brand’s mori girl image. The large intricate fur fur headpieces were exceptional. Some of them reminded us of the handmade hair art that we saw earlier this year at Tokyo’s biggest dolly kei party.
