COLLECTION PLATE? AND COUNTING OF MONEY

LAMENTATIONS 3:40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

GOD wants us TO STOP and to consider our spiritual position!! In doing this, let us keep three scriptures constantly in mind.

DEUTERONOMY 12:30-32 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? Even so will I dolikewise.

31- Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

32- What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not ADD THERETO, NOR DIMINISH FROM IT.

ROMANS 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin UNTO DEATH, or of OBEDIENCE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS?

REVELATION 22:18&19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the Prophecy of this book, If any man shall ADD unto these things, God shall ADD unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19- And If any man shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this Prophecy, God shall TAKE AWAY his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

MARK 12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the ^g treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

I do not know whether you have a reference column in your Bible, but if you do, please note a small letter g next to the word ^gtreasury. The reference column refers you to:

2 KINGS 12:9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

LUKE 21:1-4 AND he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. (Afrikaans Bible = Skatkis)

2- And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3- And he said. Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4- For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

1 CORINTHIANS 16:1&2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

2- Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

I would like you to notice that our Father is showing us that Sunday, the first day of the week is not a holy day. We may count tithes & offerings the first day of the week, but not on the seventh day Sabbath. We will notice later that counting money is part of business. And the last piece of the verse says: that there be no gatherings when I come. Gatherings = (collecting = collection).

ACTS 17:1&2 (When did Paul come to them?)

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apolonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

2- And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

LUKE 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

Here the Father is telling us that counting money and building are all part of business. Therefore there should be no counting of money on the seventh day, because this is God’s holy Sabbath day, it’s not for business, and certainly not in His House.

JAMES 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

HEBREWS 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
