During its 70-year-long history, the University has trained more than 60000 highly qualified specialists in different fields.

In 2009 The University joined the best twenty classical universities

of the general Russian Universities rating.

The university now comprises 85 chairs and 17 faculties:

Faculty of Agriculture,

Mining and Geology,

History,

Forest Engineering,

Mathematics,

Medicine,

Political and Social Sciences,

Baltic and Finnish Philology and Culture,

Industrial and Civil Engineering,

Physical Engineering,

Philology,

Ecology and Biology,

Economics,

Law,

Also There are Improvement of Professional Skills as well as Preparatory Faculty,

and Faculty of Postgraduate Education in the Sphere of Medicine.

The university also has

Kola branch in city Apatity in Murmansk region;

8 students dormitories;

more than 40 innovation and training centers,

Publishing house,

Botanic garden,

Swimming pool “Onega”;

Scientific library which funds contain more than 1 million books.

Great attention is paid to increasing the availability of higher education for children from regions of the republic. Each region is assigned to one of the faculties of The University.

Teaching staff of The University is more than 1000 people.

There are over 500 PhD holders,

130 doctors of science and professors,

4 Corresponding Members of the State Academies of the Russian Federation,

More than 18500 undergraduate and graduate students take training, re-training and professional development.

There are 3 forms of education.

Besides a day education there are evening and extramural education for part time students who work during day.
