Тема урока: «Leisure time activities»

Цели урока: обсудить с учащимися различные формы проведения досуга.

Задачи:

1. провести урок-дискуссию с целью обучить и развить у учащихся навыки говорения

2. разобрать различные формы проведения досуга и свободного времени

3. организовать работу учащихся в парах, маленьких группах

4. выполнить ряд упражнений для закрепления нового материала

Оборудование: доска, мел, распечатки с заданиями.

Вид урока – урок-дискуссия. Ввод нового материала.

Ход урока

I.Организационный момент

Вступительное слово учителя:

Hello, class! How are you? What’s the news?

Today we are going to learn about different leisure time activities. I’d like you to compare Russian and British traditional leisure activities. You’ll make up and act some dialogues

II. Фонетическая разминка

But first of all, let’s recall some tongue twisters. But today let’s change our work a little bit. Usually it was me who read you tongue twisters and you repeated them after me. Today we’ll chose one student who will read tongue twisters and all the others including me will repeat them. So, who wants to be a teacher?

The students choose one of them to be a teacher. He/she stands up, goes to the blackboard and starts reading the tongue twisters. The teacher and the rest of the students repeat them:

1. How many cookies could a good cook cook. If a good cook could cook cookies? A good cook could cook as much cookies As a good cook who could cook cookies.
2. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
3. The thirty-three thieves thought that they thrilled the throne throughout Thursday.

Very nice. And now let’s do some interesting exercises which directly connected with our lesson’s topic.

Each of you one by one should say one leisure activity he likes most. So let’s start.

Task#1

Well done and now look at the blackboard. Here you can find some leisure activities which are the most popular with British students:

· listen to music/dance

· play computer games/surf the net/play board games

· read books/watch video/ do crosswords

· go camping/ go to the cinema/to the theatre

· play different sports game/ go cycling

· roller-skating/ skateboarding

Now let's divide into 2 groups. Students from the first are from Britain. You live in London. Students from the second group are from Russia. You live in Moscow. Discuss leisure activities in your countries and tell the most popular in your opinion?

As you know all the activities can be divided into two large groups. When the weather is good we spend our free time outdoors and when the weather is bad we stay at home.

Task#2

You have cards of different color on your desks. Look at the list of leisure activities in Britain You will work in pairs and tell what you like or dislike doing But, the students who have yellow cards should speak about good weather leisure activities.The students who have green cards should speak about bad weather leisure activities. When the weather is good and when the weather is nasty. I will come round and check. You have 2 minutes.

So let’s continue our lesson.

Task#3.

Now, I want you to make small groups of 3 people in each. You will be given role cards with different situation connected with our today’s topic. Imagine and act out a small conversation using the information given in the cards. Then, each group will be presenting her situation in front of the class.
