People often say ,,You are what you eat’’ and we all know that to be healthy we need to eat healthy food. And I completely agree with this saying. But what is really healthy? All

  1. Holidays are essential parts of our life. You can’t work all the time; you need time for a rest. Many great holidays are celebrated in our country. On the 1st of May there is May Day — the holiday of spring and labour. On the 8th of March there is Women's Day — the holiday of all women and girls. We celebrate Day of Independence on the 24th of August. People also celebrate some religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter. But, tastes differ. As for me, New Year’ s Day is the best celebration. I like it since my childhood. My mom and usually decorated the New Year Tree with colourful glass balls and toys. I always helped my mom to prepare some dishes. All the family gathered together on this day. When the clock struck midnight, everyone greeted each other and gave presents. Now I like this holiday too. But the difference is the people, who surround me. Now, when I’m old enough, I celebrate New Year with my friends and boyfriend. And we usually don’t give presents on this day. In conclusion, I would like to say, that it doesn’t matter what day is today, you may make a wonderful celebration, anyway.

  1. People often say,,You are what you eat’’ and we all know that to be healthy we need to eat healthy food. And I completely agree with this saying. But what is really healthy? All fruit juices contain high amounts of sugar. Some juices have only very low amounts of fruit in them – and as much sugar as a glass of cola or a chocolate bar. So, it’s definitely better to drink water. 80 % of our body is water. You should drink 8 glasses of water per day. The best time to drink water is just after wake-upping and before meals. You will eat less, if you drink a glass of water before every meal. But don’t drink water before going to bed, it’s not very healthy. It’s true that salads are full of vitamins and minerals. Creamy mayonnaise –based salad dressings, however, can contain a lot of fat, sugar and salt. To enjoy a healthy, tasty salad at home, make a dressing by adding lemon juice or vinegar to a small amount of olive oil instead of using heavy mayonnaise. People think chocolate is bad for them, but it has some benefits. Good quality dark chocolate helps protect your heart by lowering your cholesterol. Eating chocolate also has a positive effect on how we feel. All chocolate is high in fat, though, so you shouldn’t eat it after every meal. Eggs are a good source of protein and vitamins. Frying an egg though, is less healthy than boiling them. Red meat such as beef can be part of a healthy diet. Including red meat in a meal a couple of times a week helps your body to get enough iron and protein. Just make sure you trim off the fat and buy only lean meat. And don’t forget about physical jerks. You may go to a gym, take aerobics classes or do any sport you want. Just try and you will adore it.

  1. People don’t pay enough attention to the ecology situation. Who haven’t heard about acid rains, ozone holes, oceans and seas, polluted by oil? But who cares? When we are going to the forest for gathering mushrooms and berries, we find there a huge number of glass, plastic, metallic and other waste. Environment and all Earth inhabitants have an ecological stress and the causer of such situation is, of course, a man. We destroy the world where we all live. The problem will be solved only when our attitude to the environment will be changed. But we shouldn’t wait, when something terrible happens we should do changes now. Each breath you take not only includes oxygen, a gas that we rely on to survive, but also many harmful gases, heavy metals and other particles such as dust. This is air pollution. And we breathe it. Also many factories and plants throw their waste into seas, rivers and oceans. Some scientists suggest that in 100 years people won’t have fresh water. One man said, there is no heaven on the Earth. But there are pieces of it. So let’s save our planet and visit pieces of heaven.

  1. Art is everywhere. The dictionary defines art as the making of things that have form and beauty. From this definition of art we can say that art surrounds us. In every object we see, in our homes and even nature which God has made so beautiful, there is art. Art is not just the paintings or sculptures we see in the museums. Art is everywhere, the buildings, the landscapes, cars, clothes and many more. All of that is art in some way. We may not realize it at first but, yes, all these are some form of art. Many people suggest that art we can see only in museums. To my mind, art is more, than that. Everyone has his own way of showing art. One good example of it is how we want look or dress. We want our shirts be of particular colour. And we want to be in a good shape. Designers have their different way of showing art. It’s the same with artists, writers, singers, actors etc. So, I suppose, that the saying,,Art is everywhere is true’’ You sit at home and read a book or watch a movie. They are pieces of art. You even live in a house, which is art too. I want to conclude my story with the quotation of the one famous man,, One eye sees, the other feels.’’

  1. Everyone knows, that the English language is lingua franca, which means that two speakers whose native languages are different from each other’s use English as a,,second language’’ for communication. English is one of the main languages of international communication. Even people who are not English speakers often know words such as bank, chocolate, computer, hamburger, hospital, hotdog, hotel etc. Many of these words are borrowed from other languages. There are a number of reasons for the popularity of English. Many of them are historical, but they also include economic and cultural factors, which have influences the spread of English. Much travel and tourism is carried on, around the world, in English. A visit to most airports will show signs not only in the language of that country, but also in English. Knowing English is very good for many reasons. Firstly, people will understand you almost in every country around the world. Secondly, you may read books and watch movies in English, it’s much better, than translation. And actually, it’s a good way of improving your language. Thirdly, in many companies it’s obligatory that their workers know English. To sum up, I would like to say the quotation of one clever man,, You are always a student. Never a master. Keep moving forward.’’

  1. If you are a fan of movies, it certainly had influenced you a lot in your decisions, thinking, mood, views, and etc. Movies are one of the best choices of recreation. There are thousands of movies produced by different film industries today. Films are produced on every topic of life, classic, action, suspense, thrill, history, romance, mystery, biography, research-based, animals, and others. Every topic of a film has different influence to the audience. A romantic movie will give you romantic influence. It may give you some tips on how to please your partner or the person you love. You may learn Ukrainian or world history from historical films. You may improve your mood by watching comedies. They can teach us lessons. Each story that we watch on movies are implicating different moral lessons that we should apply in our true lives. And also, there are times when this can make us cry when the character cries because we can pretty relate to them. They may educate us. E.g. If you watch a movie in English, you may improve your language. You may watch movies with subtitles and write down unknown words, in such way you will increase your vocabulary. I like watching movies, my favourite genres are: comedies, dramas and science fiction. My favourite movies are: The bucket list, The Notebook, Mr. Nobody and The Truman’s show.

  1. Many people suggest, that be a parent is as easy as a pie. I don’t think, that’s so black and white. There are four parenting styles in the world, such as Authoritarian, Authoritative, Permissive, Uninvolved.

In Authoritarian style of parenting, children are expected to follow the strict rules established by the parents. Failure to follow such rules usually results in punishment. Authoritarian parents fail to explain the reasoning behind these rules. If asked to explain, the parent might simply reply, "Because I said so." These parents have high demands, but are not responsive to their children. Authoritative parents like authoritarian parents, establish rules that their children are expected to follow. However, this parenting style is much more democratic. Authoritative parents are responsive to their children and willing to listen to questions. When children fail to meet the expectations, these parents are more nurturing and forgiving rather than punishing. The Permissive Parenting Style is an extremely relaxed approach where parents are generally warm. They feel their children are capable of making their own decisions with little parental guidance. They often use bribery as a means of controlling their children. Treats, toys, or gifts are provided as a discipline approach. Parents can easily be manipulated and controlled by their children.

An uninvolved parenting style is characterized by few demands, low responsiveness and little communication. While these parents fulfill the child's basic needs, they are generally detached from their child's life. If I were a parent, I would like to follow Authoritative parenting style. It includes rules, which are necessary for proper up-bringing. But they are not too strict, as in Authoritarian style. And with such parenting style I would listen, understand and help my children. I would rather a friend, than parent, in a good way of course.

  1. One man said,,,there is no heaven on the Earth. But there are pieces of it.’’ I’d like to tell you about one piece of heaven, Kyiv. Kyiv is a heart of Ukrainian culture, which is located on the Dnipro River. The name Kiev is derived from the name of Kiy, one of four legendary founders of the city. The population of Kiev is about 3 millions people. In past times, Kyiv was called “Mother of Russian cities”. There are more that 30 museums, about 200 unique architectural monuments, 33 theatres etc. There are many historical places in Kiev. For example, The Golden Gates, the Andreyevskaya Church, St Sophia Cathedral, Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra, St Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, St. Andrew’s church in baroque style and many others. There are lots of museums in Kiev: the Museum of Ukrainian Arts, the Historic Museum, the Taras Shevchenko Museum, the Lesya Ukrainka Museum, the museum of M. Bulgakov and others. Khreshchatyk is the main street in Kyiv. And it’s the shortest main street in the world. The street is only one kilometer long but it is very impressive. The subway station ‘Arsenalnaya’ in Kiev has the biggest depth all over the world. It’s depth lasts 105 meters. ' Rodina-Mat' is a monumental statue with 102 m tall and weight in 560 tons. The sculpture is a part of the Museum of The History of Ukraine in World War II, Kiev. It’s our Ukrainian,, The Statue of Freedom’’. Don’t go abroad, visit Ukraine. It’s amazing.

  1. Many people suggest, that be a parent is as easy as a pie. I don’t think, that’s so black and white. You should teach children some good qualities, such as responsibility, creativity, thirst for knowledge, kindness, honesty and others. All children need opportunities to demonstrate that they are responsible for their actions, schoolwork, chores, and relationships. The act of responsibility involves being trusted, making decisions, and answering for one’s behavior. A good way for parents to teach responsibility is to assign chores to children. Provide plenty of encouragement when your child demonstrates responsibility, and discuss the negative aspects of not performing the tasks well if he or she does not. Children need to know that their parents love them unconditionally but may be disappointed with their actions. The world needs more and more creativity to solve difficult problems confronting us. And you should teach your child to think creatively. From their childhood you may tell them fairy-tale without ending, let them think what will happen later. Children should like reading and getting new information. You may read books with them or watch educative shows. They will understand, that’s important and will follow your lead. You should be honest and kind with them, so they will behave in such way too. To sum up, I would like to say: Be a good person, a good parent and your child will be great too.

  1. Many men, many minds. As for me, parents take more responsibility, than schools, universities etc. From the 1st day of child’s life parents are always with him or her and care them. They teach children speak and walk. Parents help them with everything. Most of the learning of a child's life begins in this period. At the early stage, education starts from learning all these physical and mental activities; then comes formal learning like identifying body parts, alphabets, digits, colours and shapes. Family is the first agency that teaches the children all these things. Then children go to school and teacher teach them how to count, write, read etc. If they do their work well, children like studying and know everything. But on this stage of life parents have an important role too. They check their home works, explain what is not understandable etc. When the children are older they spend a half of a day at school, where teachers do their best for teaching them. But many children miss the classes and don’t do their home work. So, parents should control it. When children go to the university, parents haven’t so big influence on them. Many of children go to another city or even country. And only instructors can teach or change something in their minds. And with every year the influence of society gets bigger and parents’ less. In conclusion, I’d like to say, that if parents and other people(teachers, instructors, classmates, friends) have an excellent cooperation, the child will be a perfect member of society.

  1. “My father taught me to work, but not to love it. I never did like to work, and I don't deny it. I'd rather read, tell stories, crack jokes, talk, laugh -- anything but work.”
― Abraham Lincoln. Our life is too short, so we shouldn’t work all the time. Of course, working is important thing, but wasting the whole your brilliant life at work is stupid. We have just one life and we should spend it so, we will not regret. There are many kinds of spending your free time. Some people think that it is important to use leisure time for activities that develop the mind, such as reading and doing crossword puzzles. Others feel that it is important to give one’s mind a rest in leisure time. Some people want to relax after their day of work. These people may prefer to relax by watching movies, reading or getting a massage. People who have physically jobs such as doctors and builders may choose these types of activities. On the other hand, some people choose to be active in their leisure time because they do very sitting jobs. For example, these people many spend all day sitting on a chair and do their work. At the end of a working day, they may be have a backache, and all of their body become tired so they need to stretch their arms and improve their health by doing some activity such as going to the gym or swimming. As for me, I like watching my favourite TV shows, reading books or listen to music. But sometimes, it’s too boring for me and I go picnic to forest or park. To make my story short, no matter what kind of leisure you prefer, with whom you have a rest, this really matter.

  1. Nowadays in our country it’s a very difficult situation. We have war on the East of Ukraine, economic decline and we are on the edge of default. So now it’s extremely difficult to create a new family. On their wedding day, the bride and groom promise to be faithful to each other “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.” Sooner or later, all couples face the “worse” or “poorer” or “sickness” in their marriage. The fist problem is no place to live. Many young couples don’t have their own flats. They rent a flat, which costs much money. Or even worse, they live with their parents. Living with parents is much worse, because parents and a young couple have different points of view and it’s almost impossible to live together without quarrels. And then, many divorces are results of it. The second problem is money. The happiness doesn’t depend on money, but living without is impossible. Most partners are surprised by each others spending habits and debt. Be it home loans or credit card bills, never hide the status of your finances and make it a point to take a joint decision on big expenses. In addition, this is the age when people rarely do think of savings, and tend to spend more on things like travelling, shopping, dining out etc. The third one is house-hold chores. Most partners work outside the home and often at more than one job. So it's important to fairly divide the labor at home. If a woman cooks, man should do the washing-up. And there are more problems, the young couple might face. But if the couple really loves each other, everything will be fine.
