Hi, my name is Chase Craig, and I attend Hillcrest Elementary. I was born on March 19^th 2001. My family is made up of 4 people. My mother Christine my father Colin my sister Courtney and my beloved Boston Terrier Holly.

There are 27 students in my class this year, 13 girls, and 14 boys. My teacher this year is Mrs. Middleton, and she is the most creative teacher ever. I very much like having her as a teacher, as she is a very creative person just like me. I am also very comfortable at school. At school we study many subjects like Math, Science, Language Arts/Writing, Art, Social Studies, French and Physical Education (PE). Those are the main subjects we learn in school. I like to study all of these subjects. The main language at our school is English, and our second language is French. It is also one of the national languages of Canada. My favorite subject in school is Language Arts. I like it because we learn a lot of new stuff about how to be a good writer, how to make good predictions and connections in books and more. Normally our lessons last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Our school is a very friendly environment in many ways. For example our teachers think that it’s appropriate to wear whatever clothes we like, as long as they aren’t inappropriate. I am glad that we don’t have to wear school uniforms. I very much agree with idea because kids need to express themselves in as many ways possible. We also have other neat things. For example we are allowed to listen to music while we work because for some of us it keeps us focused. We also have a fruit program where every class gets fresh fruit every 3 weeks.

Outside of school I am interested in many other things. My main hobbies are playing hockey at a very competitive level, and video games and reading. I prefer to read novels that are futuristic where the government makes the world very different than it is now. Examples of these books are the Divergent series, The Maze Runner series, The Giver and many more. I also like other sports like Soccer, and Football.

I love spending time with my family my mom and I do a lot of art together and my dad and I like to play sports. Hi, my name is Conor Baerg. I am 12 years old and my birthday is on August 1, 2001. I live in Surrey, B.C., Canada. My parents are named Ken and Marieanne. I have a sister named Carly who is 14, and a dog named Moe. I have been going to my school for eight years now and I am in grade seven.

In the future I hope to be an author or an illustrator as I love to write and draw. I have written several short stories, and I like to create my own comics.

Hi my name is Arshdeep Bains I am 12 years old turning 13 on January 9, 2014. When I usually have a break I like to shoot pucks in my backyard, I like to shoot pucks because hockey is a BIG part in my life, I started playing hockey when I was 3 years old. My favorite dish is chicken wings and butter chicken but there are lots that I could choose from like pizza, pasta and cake.

Hi my name is Devon Holcroft, and I am 12 years old. I was born on August 19^th, 2001 to my Mom Karen and my dad Wade. I also have a 10 year old little brother named Josh.

I go to Hillcrest elementary, my teacher is Mrs. Middleton, and we study: Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, we also have a band program that the grade 7’s can join. My favorite subject in school is Science because there is so much variety of what you can do to study it. My school doesn’t have school uniforms, and our lessons range from 15 minutes to 1 hour of work time. The classroom has a bunch of cushions, a couch, and beanbags that make learning comfortable and fun.

Hello, my name is Amanda Smith. I’m 12 years old, almost 13, with 3 older siblings, Laarni (La-arney) 30, Eddie 29, and CJ 19, so yes I’m the youngest, but I can hardly tell. I also have a cat named Velvet; she’s a, black, British shorthair and is 7 human years/42 cat years. My birthday will be the 12 of February, it might be strange to say, but I really hope it rains, or keeps snowing all the way until February. I don’t know why I just love the cold, and I despise the sun (not to sound too harsh), it’s just, the sun can blind you, give you skin cancer while rain is just there, falling all over the world.

When I get older I hope to be a baker, because I just love the smells that come out of the oven, and the taste that comes with it. I also might want to be a librarian, or bookshop owner, because I just adore books, the feeling of the spines on my fingers, the look of thousands of words just sitting there waiting for you to read them. I love books for the reason that they just love anyone who opens them. Plus I kind of want to open a pet shop, since I’ll be around, and taking care of tons of animals.

I don’t really have a favorite singer; I just focus on the music, not the artist in particular, because if you just focus on one, you might not be able to enjoy music if you’re so contributed to a single singer, and dislike another. To me it just sounds like you’re locked on one person, so that you can’t like any other; I don’t know that’s just me.

For me I actually can’t commit to one movie, because there are just so many good genres, and story plots; I can’t decide. But here is my top 5: “The Notebook”(sappy I know),”The Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Corpse Bride”, “Coraline”, and “Dark Shadows”. My dream is to move to England, preferably London or Bristol. The reason why I want to move to England in the future is because I love the cold. I love the fact that it rains most of the year, and that the snow falls heavily, all over the country during winter. Plus I love the accents. To me it just looks like the absolute best place for me to live, mostly because I love the cold.

For my hobbies I like to read, or paint. At the moment I’m painting a poster for this book I finished reading for the third time (The Fault in our Stars). The book s I’m currently reading are: The Wind Singer, Alone on the Wide Wide Sea, and Looking for Alaska.

My favorite genres in books are: mystery, teen, tragedy, killer, and fantasy/fairy tales. I adore reading mystery because if you get deep enough inside a book it gets to a point where you can’t stop until you find out what happens, even better if it’s a series. I like teen books, ‘cause in the stories I can actually relate to most things because the characters are my age. Tragedy is one of my utmost favorites, the reason why is that I like stories that leave you with something heavy to process, and not just a book where you read, then forget. Killer is obvious, when reading these types of stories I feel like I’m part of the dilemma, to a point until it holds you until the end. And fantasy and fairy tales, because who doesn’t like fairy tales?

At school we learn French, and we already know English. We have French 2x a week; we’re in the middle of learning about pizza toppings. The things that we learn very quickly are questions, like “Comment ca va?” which means “How are you?” In our school we do not wear uniforms, we choose to allow our students to express themselves through clothing.

I actually know quite a lot about Russia, I did a project on it in grade 5. I know that the capital is Moscow, and that there is a large attraction in Moscow called The Red Square, which is like a town square. I know how many times it rains in a year, the climate in certain areas, it’s a good thing I did that project. And I’m sorry; I do not know any Russian words.

On my last holiday, summer break, I went to Las Vegas, Disneyland (California), Pax Prime (gaming convention, Seattle), and Washington. When I went to Las Vegas, I had the utmost honor to see Cirque de Soleil Zarkana, it was astonishing, no words can describe. While there, I went to M&M world, and got some souvenirs and customized candy, with my initials on them. In Disneyland I got autographs from every character I could find, rode every ride there, and went on a shopping spree in the candy shop. I was so happy I couldn’t stop smiling. At Pax Prime my brother, my cousin, and me got a bunch of free-bees from playing/testing games. There was a bunch of people dressed as characters from games; it was mesmerizing to see all these people here, just to play video games. And finally in Washington we just went to a buffet.

Hi my name is Dora Chan and I am 11 years old. I go to Hillcrest Elementary and I am grade 6. My birthday is April 7^th 2002. I have a dog-named Snowball. She is a west highland terrier. I named her Snowball because she is all white. My favorite singers and bands are Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, David Guetta and Maroon5. My favorite movies are Narnia The Spy’s Next Door, Cinderella Story and Parental Guidance.

My Hobbies are playing the piano, spending time with my friends and family, playing sports, crafts, baking and reading I like playing games where you have to move around a lot like, capture the flag, man tracker and tag games. I like reading adventure books and books with a lot of emotion and suspense. Some of my favorite books are Out of my mind. It is about a girl named Melody with a brain problem but she has a photographic memory. It is a very good book because you can really feel how she feels and the things she has to go through. Another book I really like is Garbage Kings. It is about a boy who gets tricked by a man he takes the boy to slavery. Later the boy escapes and finds a rich boy who ran away because his father threatened to send him to a place to toughen him up. The poor boy and the rich by find a gang and they all team up. Later in the story the poor boy goes lives with his sister’s husband and the rich boy goes back to live with his family.

My head teacher’s name is Mrs. Middleton. We have 9 subjects in school, Language arts, math, social studies, science, gym, music, band, art and French. The languages we study are English and French. In language arts we have been doing writing, in math we have been doing prime and composite numbers, we haven’t really done that much in social studies yet, in science we have been learning about ecosystem, I don’t do band because I am in grade 6, in gym we are doing volleyball, in art we have done an alphabet letter using only black and white and in French we have been learning pizza topping and how to ask and say prices in French.

Hello my name is Kaden VanIeperen and I am 11 years old. My birthday is on August 2, 2002. I have two cats one’s name is Tony and the other one is Kitty. Tony loves to play all day outside inside it don’t matter. In the morning Tony usually waits at the door mewing to get us to open the door and if we don’t he will jump onto my bed and start rolling clawing on the blanket. Kitty is an inside cat she just lays on the couch all day waiting until I go to bed so she can jump up onto my bed because she knows I will pet her and scratch under the chin. When Kitty does go outside she will just sit there looking at the cars. I love playing all sorts sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball and HOCKEY! I am on the Cloverdale Colts. My favorite position is right wing but the coach usually puts me as a left wing but I am fine with it as long as I get to play hockey. Pretty soon we are going to be playing in a tournament in Seattle I hope we win. Next season I am planning on playing as a goalie my mom and dad think I would be pretty good at it. I think it would be pretty hard to skate in those big pads but I’m still going to try it.

Hi, my name is Kennedy Carmont. I am a twelve year old student from Hillcrest Elementary. I was born on May 21^st, 2001 to my mom(Kim) and my dad.(Troy) I have three siblings; Tyler,(20) Kaitlin,(18) Tanner,(14) and then there’s me. I also have a pet dog named Sophie. She is a lasapoo, (a mix between a lasa and a poodle) and is eleven years old. What I would like to be in the future is a “youtuber.” A youtuber is a person who uploads videos to the website YouTube for other people’s enjoyment and has a large amount of “subscribers” and gets paid for uploading the videos as a job. Some youtubers that I like watching and would recommend to you are: danisnotonfire, amazingphil, kickthepj, crabstickz, jacksgap and pewdiepie. Each of them is extremely funny and talented in making videos and I would definitely recommend them to you to watch.

The subjects that we study in school are: Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Math, French, Art and some of the grade sevens do band on Wednesdays and Fridays. My favorite subject out of all of these is Language Arts because for the past few weeks we have been doing these things called one-hundred word challenges. What one-hundred word challenges are, is there will either be a picture or a group of words and we need to write a short story that either has something to do with the picture or includes the group of words; and has less than one hundred words or exactly one hundred words. Here is an example of one, which was written by me: “I had just finished my trick-or-treating and was heading towards the Night Zoo and I decided to see the newest animal they had put in. When I saw the sign I assumed that they had made a mistake with the name; it had said “Creature unidentified.” But then, a horrifying creature came out, with eyes as white as snow and horns sharper than knives. It was crying but then realization came in that is wasn’t crying normal tears, it was sobbing blood. It started wailing again and my eyes grew wide as I started running away from this creature from hell.” I had decided to do this one because it was a Halloween special for the one hundred-word challenge and we were supposed to come up with a monster so I decided to use a banshee.

Some of my hobbies are: reading, drawing, writing, video games, music and singing. I really enjoy doing those things because, for example, with the writing, I am able to entertain people with things that I’ve made and that makes me extremely happy to give other people happiness. I enjoy singing because I’ve been obsessed with music, even when I was around five or six years old I was obsessed with music! But, just like everyone else, my music taste has changed throughout the years. When I was younger I used to like music like Hannah Montana and a lot of Christian or gospel music; growing up in a Christian household. Now, being twelve years old, I am more into artists like Fall Out Boy, Panic, At The Disco, Avicii, Cher Lloyd, Taylor Swift, Marina and The Diamonds, etc. I really enjoy music because it helped me through some of the harder parts of my life. Music especially helped me during the time that my great grandmother died and when I was getting bullied. The instruments I play are: flute and piano. But, when I get older I would like to learn how to play the guitar and maybe the drums. Some of the video games I like to play are: Minecraft, Left 4 Dead, Portal, Call Of Duty, The Legend of Zelda, Halo, Assassins Creed, Modern Warfare, Pokémon, etc. Some of the sports I like are hockey and baseball. I like baseball because my dad and my brothers all love baseball, especially my dad seeing as he used to (and sometimes still does) umpire for The Little League World Series.

My favorite actor/actress is Jennifer Lawrence. I loved her in The Hunger Games and she is an incredible actress in every movie she is in. She was exceptionally good in Silver Linings Playbook. My favorite singer is a tie between two artists, Marina and The Diamonds and Fall Out Boy. My favorite songs from both of them are Primadonna Girl (Marina and The Diamonds) and Sugar we’re going down swinging. (Fall Out Boy) Now, I think that my favorite movie is the Disney/Pixar movie called Brave. It’s about a Scottish princess that doesn’t want to get married at her age and so runs away and finds a witch. The witch asks her what she wants and she says she wants to change her mother but, the witch takes her literally and makes a potion that changes her mother into a bear, but the princess only has a few days to change her family back to normal and her mother finally excepts her for who she is. The last thing I’m going to tell you about (sadly I have to finish this letter) is the kind of books I like to read. I like to read fantasy, mystery and adventure books. My favorite book is a tie between the Pretty Little Liars series and the Harry Potter series.

Hi my name is Katie Cash. I am 12 years old and I go to Hillcrest Elementary, I was born on October 2^nd 2001. I have a family of 6 including pets. First my younger brother named DJ he is 9 years old and loves to play hockey, then there is my mom Sharon, my dad Ron plus my dog and hamster, Turbo and Charlie. Turbo is 6 years old and he is a Papillion he is very energetic that’s why we named him Turbo. Charlie is 2 years old and he is a teddy bear hamster.

I love to play all kinds of sports but my favorites are cheer, dance, gymnastics and soccer. My hobbies include photography and stretching. I love taking photos, some of mine actually look very professional. I stretch because in cheer and dance you have to be flexible so I stretch every day so I can improve. I have several dreams like being a dance teacher or a regular teacher I might also want to be an actress or an interior decorator/designer.

Now about school, I am in Mrs. Middleton’s where it’s all about choice. What I mean by this is we can sit wherever we want to sit but we have to make good choices, so that means do not sit beside someone who will make you not focus. In our class there are 14 boys and 13 girls, we are not just a class but a family. So since we are a family we made our classroom our second home by bringing in a couch, 3 beanbags, a table, 1 big pillow and some other things. So I think we are pretty comfortable.

Subjects we study at school include Language Arts, Math, Science, Socials, French, Art, P.E. and Band. Band is only for grade 7’s we get to pick an instrument we want to play and we practice and practice and then we perform for the school. I play the clarinet, I like to do band because I love to try different things. Out of all of these my favorite subjects are Band and L.A./language Arts but I do love to study all of the subjects. We study two languages I think the first one is English but we all only speak English we do not have an actual subject. The other is French, which we do study at school. In French we play different games to get us to remember the words.

So at school we have 2 breaks, well kind of 3 but I am going to only tell you about the outside breaks. So we have 2 outside breaks where we go outside. 1 is 15 minutes which is called recess and the other is 45 minutes and it is called lunch. During these times I go outside and hangout with my friends. My group of friends is made up of all different types of personalities; I have grade 6 and 7 friends so it is a nice mix of people. In our school for grade 6 and 7 you get the same teacher for the 2 years.

Hello, my name is Nicole Anaya. I am a twelve year-old girl in grade 7, going to Hillcrest Elementary. I love this school but sadly this is my last year until I move onto high school, but I am going make the best if it. With my family, which is made up of my dad, mom, younger sister (which is a pain sometimes but super fun to hang out with and an amazing best friend), my dog Dexter that is a mix with a border terrier and a Shih Tzu. He is adorable and one of my best friends.

I love to play soccer and I am on a team with my friends Mackenzie, April and Maddie. Our team name is the “THUNDER”, and is made up of the greatest bunch of girls with our two coaches Phil and Albert. I was in the school soccer team for two years in a row and I had so much fun. I also love to play volleyball. I have been to camps and I am on the school volleyball team. I also love to play badminton, because last year I was on the school volleyball team and we came in second place! Or first place, I don’t even remember! This doesn't count as a hobby it is a passion, I am a photographer AND I want to do graphic design when I grow up. Photography is so fun and every time I go out with my family for walks I bring out my camera because rain or shine I know how to make it a really cool photo. So about graphic design… In graphic design you can design brochures, websites, create logos, business cards and more. Right now I have two websites one for photography and one for school, and every time I work on it I could spend hours on it just to make it my own. I don’t know why, I just love taking pictures and graphic design!

I find a lot of movies fun to watch and my favorite type of movie would be adventure fantasy. One of the movies that I really like would be “ Percy Jackson and the lightning thief “and “ Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters ”, (I don’t know if you have heard of it) I think it is awesome!

Hmm… my favorite singer would be… Selena Gomez, the band One Direction which includes Harry Styles (my favorite), Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. I also like Hedley and their new song “I can do anything”.

In my class we have 14 boys and 13 Girls altogether would be 27 and then my amazing teacher Mrs.. Middleton. I love this classroom… well it is like a second home because it is so warm and welcoming. We have a love seat three beanbags, a small chair, some pillows and five small mats. Last year I was a grade six and the class designed this classroom to make it really special and a great place to learn.

For attendance we have a statement on the board and then we have two column’s saying, “agree” and “disagree”. You have to answer the question and whoever is left is away. Cool right? I think all the grade 6-7 classes do that.

I have a lot of subjects in English. We have Language Arts, French, Math, and Science, Start (which is silent reading); Socials, Art, P.E. (gym) and Buddies but we only do buddies on Friday. My favorite subject from all that would have to be Math, L.A. and Art, People say that I am really good at art and since we are doing soapstone. People (mostly my friends) say I am ahead of everybody and it looks awesome.

The school has two breaks, recess which is fifteen minutes and lunch, which like thirty-five minutes. During the breaks I have a group of friends made up of grade sixes AND sevens. There are usually eight people together and we have so much fun. Sometimes we play soccer and sometimes we just walk around, but we usually just play soccer. Most of us love soccer as much as I do.

Hello, My name is Michelle Avenido. I’m 11 Years old. My Birthday is at November 19, 2001. I have two sisters and one nephew. My nephew’s name is Zach nestor Degoma, My oldest sister is Rachelle Andrea Avenido/Degoma and my older sister is Lyana Chrisette Avenido. In the future I want to be a flight attendant (Plane assistant) like my sister Chrisette. And my dream is to graduate college, and I wish that everybody has a dream like that, it will be awesome if you wanted to be successful in school too.

At our school we learn Language Arts, French, Science, Math, Socials. What have I learned in class? In French we have been learning Pizza toppings, but I’m not going to get into the detail that much because you guys are just learning English. In Language arts we are reading a book called “Forbidden City” I would suggest the book but there is too much words that you wouldn't understand, even I don’t know half of them (And because I’m from Philippines). In Science we are learning about the ecosystems and the organisms that is in it. In math we are learning about putting on plot points on a one quadrant grid the important thing to know about it that “X” Axis travels horizontally (Side wards) and the “Y” axis travels vertically (Upward), I know that it’s hard for you to understand but I don’t really know how to explain it in text. In Socials we haven’t done anything yet, well, at least I don’t think so. There are two more things that I’m into which is band and art. In band I am playing the trumpet, which has 5 notes and that is G, F, E, D, C. In arts we did our dream boards what we did is we put quotes and pictures that inspires us.

Lets talk about my favorites. My favorite singers are Lorde especially her song royals, burn (i don’t know who wrote it). My favorite movies are Coraline, Shrek, and the BEST one is DISPICABLE ME 1&2. I’m going to tell you little about one of the movie but I’m not going to give that much away. So first is Coraline, it’s about a girl who received a doll from his friend Wibey and then the doll watches her family and her, then she found a small door that she thought that there were nothing in it, but there was. Shrek, people says that it is the best movie because even if you’re not perfect you can still have a happy ending in your life, there are three Shrek movies “I think” so I don’t really want to spoil the whole story. And now Despicable me! There are two movies now! “YAAAY! So, there are three sisters named “Margo, Edith, Agnes” and Gru. The 3 girls are orphans who sell cookies and they live at homes for girls, Gru adopted them just so he can steal the shrinkerator from vector. That’s all my favorite movies and songs. The second movie, well.... I forgot what it’s about because I watched it about 2 months ago; I don’t remember movies that great.

Now I’m going to talk more about me, I was born and raised at Philippines I moved here at Canada at April 11, 2012 so I was only here for one and a half year. At Philippines it only has two seasons, which is sunny and rainy it’s super boring without snow. My mom moved to Canada before me, my sisters, and my dad, she left when i was 5 years old, I didn't really know what was happening so I did not cry when she left. Anyways, my passions are Photography, knitting, and Technology. I’m going to tell you about each one of them. First is Photography, I learned taking photos since I was five years old, my uncle taught me how to take pictures in different perspective, and he also taught me how to edit it. My uncle is famous at our city because he is a professional photographer and his name is Romeo Rivera. We have 3 cameras that him and I are the only one who uses it, my favorite camera is with 400 ASA which means that you can take anything that’s fast, it makes the picture clear. Now about knitting, my mom taught me how to knit when I came here in surrey. When I saw the knitting of her hat I was blown away, becauseI thought that she bought it. Last but not least Technology, as I said I learned how to edit photos when I was five years old, so that’s when I started to learn more about computers. At our school Mrs. Middleton (Our teacher) calls me “Sherpa”. That is probably all that I can say, thank you for reading! I hope that you had fun knowing all about me.

Hi, my name is Maddie Struthers, I’m 12 years old. I have one sister name Sophie. She is turning 16 soon. Sophie has blonde tips but she’s naturally blonde.

I love helping others. When someone else is happy it makes me happy. I love seeing people smile.

I also adore my pet dog daisy. This photo is a picture of daisy and I. She is 10 years old. In dog years that’s about 65. Her birthday is in January. I know her days are coming to an end soon, which is sad. She really is my dog, Daisy sleeps in my room, I walk her, and I feed her. I really love her. She is a Scottish terrior poodle mix. The story is my dad picked the breed, my sister picked the name, and I picked daisy. I was around 3 when we got her. I’ve never been scared of dogs.

My whole life revolves around soccer. I play it 3 times a week, and I love every minute of it. Even though our warm up is… Squats for 30 seconds 3 times, then pushups for 1 minute, sit-ups for one minute, then pushups again, sit-ups, pushups, and then to finish it off we do lines. Lines is where you sprint up to a cone then back to the starting line going up and down reaching farther each time.

I am a defender. Everyone on my team calls me the wall because I never let my opponents get past me. But sometimes also I’m part of a 5 way rotation. That means every 5 games (sometimes 4) I’m the goalie. I like defending more because being the goalie is so much pressure. I tried being forward and I got a few goals because I have a big kick. But I don’t get the rush I do from chasing a girl down the field and booting it up to score a goal. Once on a corner kick it curved in and I got a goal from way back. My team is the thunder. We have red jerseys and track suits with our initials on it. My best friend and I both have the initials M.S so we had to put our middle names on it too.

But soccer is not the only sport I like, It’s the only one I do outside of school but I’m also good at volleyball, and badminton. Currently I’m on the volleyball team and I love it. My strongest skills are serving, and setting. I really want to make play-day. Play-day is when you miss school and you go to another school or maybe your own and have competitive games. We have games every Thursday and last time I won every single game out of 4.

Enough about sports, let’s talk about music. I am in love with the band one direction. I was lucky enough to go to their concert; I was so close to them! My favourites are Niall Horan and Harry Styles. I also like Macklemore, Selena Gomez, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, One Republic, and sooo many more.

I don’t really have a favourite actor, but I love T.V. Comedy, and old times movies.

I love to do photography. Maybe I’ll be a photographer when I grow up. That would be a fun job. I also like being a lights type of person. For example being a spotlight person for a play. You can see my photography page on my website.

Now on to school questions. I study all subjects like art, French, math, science, and language arts. Right now we are doing science. In science we are learning the roles of organisms in eco-systems. I’m sure you don’t want a lesson right now but examples are, Consumers, producers, scavengers, ect.

My favourite subject is art. I love being creative in my own way.

My school does not wear school uniforms, luckly. We get to express our selves in our own way. Which I am happy about.

My school starts at 8:40 and goes to 2:37.

I am a 12-year-old grade 7 student at Hillcrest Elementary School. I am very excited to be writing to you. Hello, my name is Mackenzie Snell. I was born on March 29^th 2001. I have 1 younger sister named Courtney, my moms name is Sharon and my dads name is Darrin. My family is pretty cool. We don’t have a pet but we all wish to adopt a puppy in the future. My house is medium sized house; we have lived in the same house for 13 years and counting. In my house we have 3 floors, basement, main level and the top level. My room and everyone else in my family have their own room on the top floor. I have always wanted to visit Russia, when I get older I hope I can visit. I don’t know any Russian words; I hope that when you write to me you will teach me some of your language.

My school is pretty big, we have over 600 students. I have been here at Hillcrest Elementary School since I was in kindergarten. I know this school very well; It’s like my 2^nd home. I am very sad that this is my last year at Hillcrest Elementary School, next year I will be in High school. Mrs. Middleton is my teacher this year. We have a lot of different subject we learn, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Gym, Health and Career, and Art. The grade 7’s get to do Band if they choose to. My favorite subjects are Math and Art. We also learn the French. When we are done our 6 hours of school, I hangout with my best friend Maddie. Maddie and I have been best friends since kindergarten and have been in the same class since. On our breaks we play board games and we play a game called “Just Dance 4”. You probably have no idea what that is. “Just Dance 4” is sort of a videogame, the television shows different dance moves and you have to copy them. It is really fun!

I am extremely passionate about soccer. Soccer is my favorite sport. I have been playing soccer for 8 years. My team is called “Thunder”. To me soccer is a huge part of my life. I am a goalie and a midfielder, a goalie is someone who stands in front of a net and tries to stop the soccer ball from going in the net. Midfielders are the total opposite, midfielders try to kick the soccer ball into the other team’s net. I think I am pretty good myself. Soccer is the best sport ever! I hope to become a soccer olympic gold medalist for Canada someday. Maybe I’ll see you at the olympics!

Hello, my name is Sarah Mc Dermott. I am 11 years and I was born on August 31, 2002. I’m from Hillcrest Elementary. I have three siblings. One twin brother his name is Nicholas and one older brother his name is Matthew and one older sister her name is Emma. I have a dream that is to be a teacher. I feel really comfortable at school because to me it is my second home. I love to read the little house in the big woods series. I’m reading that series right now. I really want to visit Russia because I have heard lots of good information about it.

I’m in a 6/7 combined class and in this class we have 15 grade 7’s and 12 grade 6’s. In oue class we have 13 girls and 14 boys. My teacher’s name is Mrs. Middleton and I was really excited when I got this teacher, because my older sister Emma had Mrs. Middleton also my older brother Matthew. They both said that they had a great year with her. So I was really excited. In our school we have the same teacher for 2 years but only if you are in a grade 6/7 combined. All the 6 and 7 classes are all combined classes so then we will have the same teacher for 2 years. In our school we have the same teacher for every subject except for when you are in grade 5,6 and 7 you a have French teacher and if you are in grade 1,2,3,4 and 5 you have a different music teacher. We have a different math teacher so then the grade 6’s do their math and the grade 7’s do their math. We change classrooms to do our math. Sometimes we do math all together but not that often. I don’t have a favorite subject at school I like all subjects. At school we study math, langue arts, science and socials.

I have lots of hobbies I really like to scrapbook. I have been doing scrapbooking for a really long time. I got into scrapbooking in preschool because my mom had to make books about us for us to share with our preschool. When my mom was sitting at the table making the book I started to do scrapbooking when my mom was doing it. When I scrapbook I work on making books. I also really like to draw. I play softball on a team. I have 13 girls on my team I have lots of friends on my team. I really enjoy playing softball.

Sculptor, Author or Painter. Sculptor because it is fun and I love art, an Author because I love writing stories and I love books and a painter because painting is part of my life! I love to paint! But along with being very artistic, I am very athletic. I love hockey, soccer, basketball, skating swimming, badminton and so many other sports! I also really like to run. It’s just so refreshing and I do a lot of things fast. The games I like to play are manhunt and what you do is you need at least 4 or 5 people to play. The more people you have, the more fun the game will be. Then about 2 people are it. Then the people who are not it have about 10 or 20 seconds to hide. Then the 2 people who are it try to hunt down the people who are not it and if someone who is it touches you, you are it with them and the last person or people tagged is the one who wins the game! It’s pretty fun to me.

My hobby is reading. I love to read so much! It’s one of my favorite things to do in the whole world but even though that I love to read I also really like to play outside with my friends. One of the books that I prefer to read is called the One and Only Ivan. It is about a gorilla that lives in a mall and he has lived in that mall for about 40 years. He lives in the mall with his friends Stella who is an Elephant and Bob, a stray dog that likes to sleep in Ivan’s cage at night. Ivan is a silverback Gorilla so that means, in his blood he is meant to protect someone but in the mall, in his cage he has no one to protect. He often feels lonely and depressed in his cage because Gorilla’s are not meant to be in a cage inside a mall. They are meant to be in a jungle and silverback Gorillas are meant to protect something or someone because that’s what silverback Gorillas are created to do. Anyways, a few weeks later the owner of the store, Mack gets a new animal- a baby elephant named Ruby. The baby elephant stays in Stella, the bigger elephants cage. While Ruby is living with Stella, Stella dies and bad things start to happen to the mall. If you ever find the book, I highly recommend that you read it.

My favorite movies are: You again, the little mermaid1, 2 and 3, Cinderella 1 and 2, the fox and the hound 1 and 2, Jack and Jill and so many others! My favorite dish is Shepherds Pie. If you don’t know what it is, Shepherds pie is mashed potatoes, mashed carrots, ground beef, tiny pieces of onions and a top layer that is hard, tastes like mashed potatoes and feels like the top of a pie. It tastes even better with Gravy on top. It is my most favorite dish ever and I could live off Shepherds Pie.

The subjects that I study in school are Language arts, French, silent reading, Science, Art, Math, P.E {which stands for Physical Education or gym}, Buddies {we are buddies with Grade 3 students and we usually do activity’s with them}. My favorite subjects in school are P.E and art. I am very artistic and as I said before that’s why I want to be a painter or something like that. But I also love running around and playing active, energy burning games! We do not wear a school uniform and are allowed to dress however we want but I don’t think the teachers or principle would like it if we wore tops that showed our belly. What I mean by that is like half tops. They are tops that only cover half of your body. I suppose that you guys don’t have them in Russia since it’s so cold there.

I actually don’t know that much about Russia… Well, I know that it’s very cold there so you guys probably don’t wear sleeveless and short sleeve tops or shorts! You probably wear parkas, boots and big warm hats. I also know that Russia is in the Arctic Circle. I know that you guys use a different type of money than us here in Canada. We use dollars here and paper bills. I don’t know what you guys use though. If I were allowed to, I would travel to every country of the world! Of course I would love to visit Russia!

Hello key pal, my name is Cam. I hope this letter will help you get to know me, as well as answer some of your questions. My birthday is September 24,^th 2002. In the future hopefully I will become a professional hockey player. I guess you guessed one of my favorite sports, but my second favorite sport is American football. If you have not heard of what football is here, I’ll explain it. It is where one person, called a quarterback, will take the ball and give it to someone else. They will run the football, or the quarterback will throw it, until the player gets tackled. Here your version of Futbol is called Soccer. I just got back from my latest holiday at Disneyland in California, America. All that I know about Russia because I am such a hockey fanatic is that you have a hockey league called the K.H.L.

At school it is a lot of fun. We learn Language arts, Science, Social studies, Math, and P.E. The language that we learn is Canada’s second language, French. We don’t have to wear a school uniform. On special occasions, like Canucks day, (they are a hockey team in the N.H.L.) we are asked to wear blue and green. This is their team colours. When I am not in class during the recess and lunch break I am playing football with my friends.

My favorite actor is Adam Sandler. He is such a funny actor. He is in so many good movies like Happy Gilmore, Grownups, Grownups 2, The longest yard, and many more! My favorite movie is either Happy Gilmore or Bruce Almighty. All of that brings me to my favorite singer, Macklemore. He sings Can’t hold us, Thrift shop, Same love, White walls, and a lot more. My hobby is being on the rink stopping pucks. I play the highest level of hockey, so I am on the rink 5-6 times a week. It is awesome, (when you are not skating lines.) Then there is my favorite game. My favorite Xbox game is 007 legends. (James Bond.) My favorite board game is Monopoly. My favorite spot to land on is free parking, I love all of the FREE MONEY!!!!!!

At my school I like to study math and I think it is very fun and right now we are doing plots it is where you connect the to lines and it ends up on a certain point. In my class there are a total of 15 boys and 12 girls. I like to study at school because I can learn new concepts. What I do during my recess and lunch are I walk around our school field talking about video games. What I want to be in the future is an archeologist or a video game tester. My favorite dish is lamb shank it is kind of like lamb leg but different and the secret ingredient is red wine and the flavors in the wine make it amazing. My favorite movie is cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 it is a great movie.

The kinds of books I like are medieval times where there are knights and tyrant warlords and saving the day and archers and that kind of stuff.

My hobby is trying to make wooden versions of medieval weapons like swords, shields and bow and arrows I have just started to do that.

The kind of games I like are video games that are themed with medieval times Like this game called sky rim and like borderlands 2 it is a game where you are a treasure hunter and you are thrust into a quest to save the entire world from this guy named handsome jack (he is not handsome he is ugly) and as a reward you get loot in this case GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!. It has over 87 bazillion guns meaning big explosions and lots of fun the game has different characters where they have different skills like where you can suspend people in a ball of energy and through out a turret and turn invisible and go into a sort of rage mode. This game is awesome and is the best game ever.
