Dear New Guide,

On behalf of the City of Westminster Guide Lecturers Association, congratulations on passing the Westminster Guiding Course! I am writing to invite you to the Westminster Guide Badge Ceremony that is taking place on Wednesday, 15^th July, at Westminster City Hall, Victoria Street, in the presence of the new Lord Mayor, Cllr. Lady Flight. The ceremony starts at 6pm and will end by 9.00pm.

As the ceremony is taking place very soon, I should be grateful if you would let us know, by no later than 30^th June, if you are able to attend the Ceremony. Please email Dafydd Wyn Phillips at [e-mail] whether or not you can attend. If you can, we will send timings and directions to you and, if not, we will agree collection of your badge and certificate with you.

I look forward to your joining the Association. You will find that the Association is not only a friendly group of individuals who love Westminster but your membership comes with many benefits, not least of which is the public liability insurance for guiding on the streets of Westminster.

There are many other benefits, of course, including:

· Regular monthly meetings, held on the last Wednesday of every month at Westminster Archive Centre (10 St Ann’s Street, SW1P 2DE). The meetings start at 6.30pm and last up to1½ hours. They provide a great opportunity to meet fellow guides and hear our guest speakers talk about a wide variety of subjects.

· A programme of visits, offering opportunities to meet colleagues while discovering more about Westminster.

· A quarterly newsletter, providing a wealth of information and a source of useful knowledge. We encourage all members to submit articles of interest to others. A copy of our latest newsletter will be e-mailed to you shortly along with regular e-mail updates about meetings, visits and events.

· Concessionary entry to major venues in Westminster. We are planning to expand these, where possible.

We also have a useful Members area on our website and I would urge you to register as soon as you join. It’s very easy to do - just click on ‘Members‘ on the home page at www.westminsterguides.org.uk. Please register using your first and last name, your e-mail address and a password of your choice. The system checks your name against our membership list to verify that you are bona fide. On subsequent visits, just log in with your e-mail address and password. If you experience any problems logging in, please email [e-mail]. We have a new Committee Member, Stephen Benton, who is looking after the website and he will respond to any queries you may have.
