1 August 2012 Call for Applications The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (www.nupi.no) is pleased to announce a project supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: ‘Dialogue and learning across the North Caucasian/ Russian divide’. The aim of the project is to create an arena for dialogue and cooperation between MA and PhD students from Northern Caucasus and Russia and give them an opportunity to establish contact with scholars who are working on questions related to conflict and reconsolidation in Northern Caucasus. The project will sponsor selected students’ participation in one weeks’ training programme consisting of dialogue seminars and a series of lectures in Moscow (5-11 November 2012) and a concluding 2-day seminar in Oslo in May 2012 (exact dates to be confirmed). Additionally each student will receive a grant (5,000 NOK) for purchase of relevant literature. Selected students will take part in a concluding conference in Russia in 2015 (exact date and location to be confirmed). The ideal applicant is: · a master’s degree level or PhD level student (or a Russian equivalents of that); · studies in the field of social sciences: communication studies, political science, sociology, psychology, social anthropology etc.; · interested in studying topics related to conflict resolution in general; · interested in peace and conflict resolution between North Caucasians and Russians in particular. Project participants are expected to work on a student paper on a relevant topic and present this paper at the concluding seminar in Oslo. All applicants must submit a paper proposal (200 words) with their application describing the topic they will write about (for example war and violence, media coverage, communication barrier, history, ethnicity and nationalism, disarmament, conflict resolution). The project will involve up to 20 students from Moscow, Dagestan and Chechnya. We strongly encourage female researchers to apply. Knowledge of English language is an advantage, but not a requirement. Selection will be based purely on merit and motivation. To apply for the project, individual students should fill out the application form (below). Application materials should be sent as one integrated word or PDF document (including grade transcript from the previous year). The entire application must not exceed three pages and must consist of application form (page 1 and 2), grade transcript (page 3). All applications submitted by 17 September 2012 will be considered. 1 августа 2012 Приглашение к участию в проекте Норвежский Институт международных отношений имеет честь оъявить о начале проекта, поддержанного Министерством иностранных дел Норвегии: «Диалог и обучение поверх барьеров: Северный Кавказ — Россия». Цель проекта — создать площадку для диалога и сотрудничества между магистрантами и аспирантами с Северного Кавказа и центральной России и предоставить им возможность установить контакты с учеными, работающими в области конфликтологии и миротворчества на Северном Кавказе. Проект будет спонсировать отобранных участников недельной программы, состоящей из семинаров-дискуссий и серии лекций в Москве (5—11 ноября) и завершающейся двухдневынм семинаром в Осло в мае 2013 года (точные даты будут определены позднее). Кроме того, каждый студент получит грант (5000 норвежских крон) на покупку необходимой литературы. Отобранные студенты будут принимать участие в завершающей конференции в России в 2015 году (точные даты и место проведения будут определены позднее). Идеальный аппликант должен соответствовать следующим критериям: 1. быть студентом-магистрантом или аспирантом 2. заниматься исследованиями в области социальных наук: communication studies, политология, социология, психология, социальная антропология и т.д. 3. интересоваться изучением тем, касающихся разрешения конфликтов вообще. 4. интересоваться путями мирного разрешения конфликта между Северным Кавказом и центральной Россией в частности. Участники проекта должны будут написать научную студенческую работу на близкую по смыслу к обозначенной в данном проекте тему и представить эту работу на завершающем семинаре в Осло. Все заявители должны представить заявку (200 слов), в которой им следует описать тему, на которую они будут писать (например, «война и насилие», «освещение прессой», «история, этничность и национализм», «разоружение», «разрешение конфликтов»). Для того чтобы подать заявку на участие в проекте, необходимо заполнить форму (ниже). Заявка должна быть послана как один целиковый Word- или PDF-файл (включая выписку из ведомости за предыдущий год обучения). Вся заявка не должна превышать трех страниц и должна состоять из заявительной формы (стр. 1 и 2) и выписки из ведомости (стр. 3). Заявки будут приниматься до 17 сентября 2012 года.
