Hello dear colleagues! Today I’m going to tell you about social stratification in other words what does it mean and other issues related to this question.

Firstly, it is worth mentioning that as society becomes more complex the process of social stratification emerges. For example first societies were very simple so its members had equal standing and were interdependent because everyone was involved in food production and there were no unequal distribution and hierarchical arrangement while stratified societies have both factors.

And now I’d like to tell you what the social stratification is. It is a hierarchy of position with regard to economic production with influences the social rewards in those positions.

It is a well known fact that there are some major historical forms of stratification slavery, feudalism and caste. Slavery is characterized by social inequality and the ownership of some persons by others. Caste is the system of social inequality in which personal status depends on his or her parents’ status and there is no opportunity to change it. Feudalism is an estate in which land workers were to pay rent to landowners.

Though modern society is supposed to be equal without any limitation social stratification still exists. For example India is the country with strong social inequality where everyone still believes in his belonging to the caste.

in conclusion social stratification is the phenomenon without which any society cannot exists. And historical experience has proved that society in which everyone is equal is an utopia because social stratification is inevitable consequence of any development
