Everywhere we go, we leave evidence of our presence. We will have some sort of affect on the people we meet and the places we go.

I aim to NEVER leave someone worse than I found them.

I want people to feel better or be better as a result of my interaction with them. I want to find ways to add value to them in some way. Maybe I have something I can give them a book, some advice, a piece of information, a connection. Or maybe I just need to find a way to encourage them with a compliment, a smile, a joke, a hug or a high-five. It doesn’t take much.

I try to do this with each interaction, but it’s not always possible. However, over the long-haul of the relationship, I want to know that I made a difference with them. This is something we can do with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, fellow coffee shop hanger outers, and people on the bus. There’s enough out there to pull people down and leave them “worse” (criticism, gossip, bad news, violence), so be the positive in all that’s negative. You might help someone, even save their life.

There is still good in people, and each of us can make a difference.
Leave the people you meet better than you found them.
