Action Plan - Components
Here are the components included in the Action Plan below. Read through each to be sure you understand what it refers to/entails.
Goals, which should:
– focus on what YOU wish to accomplish, not what other people should accomplish (these should be worded “I want to…” rather than “I want my …. to…”
-- be clearly phrased, succinct (1 sentence), focused, and achievable within 6 – 12 months
-- include one PERSONAL goal* one GENERAL ACADEMIC goal and one ACADEMIC goal regarding your ENGLISH LANGUAGE Learning.
* Careful with the personal goal. Writing something like “I want to improve my web skills” is much too general. You should be able to write a very specific goal, e.g. I want to become better at searching for specific information on the Internet, or I want to improve my ability to evaluate the credibility of Internet sources. Note that the actions for goals such as these will need to be quite specific as well.
Actions, which should:
– identify what is to be done and who will do it;
– set out actions for you and for those who will support you;
– be realistic and achievable within the resources available
Resources, which should:
– be identified to support training and development needs.
-- address what materials, funds, venues etc you will need to accomplish each goal
Target dates for start and achievement, which should:
– be realistic and manageable, i.e. illustrate that you have carefully considered the amount of work required to achieve each goal
Potential obstacles, which should:
-- identify possible problems/hurdles that may arise as you work toward each goal
