The Big Karev's House
All the residents of Uralsk knows about The Big Karev's House.
The Big Karev's House was created more than one hundred years ago, and it is still a big part of the Uralsk's history.
And it is not the end! From tsarist times to the present day in the house had been located the city's best stores. There are was more than hundred different establishments.
But the Big Karev's House is also has a lot of bad rumors.
According to the people, history of building of the house started when merchant Ovchinnikov built his two-storey house.
He had started to brag after the end of house-building. He said, that he could every day enjoy the sunrise and sunset and to drink a cup of tea by the way. The Ovchinnikov's words made merchant Karev angry. He promised, that Ovchinnikov will never enjoy the sun on his balcony. And he kept his promise. He built a home in front of Ovchinnikov's house, which was two times bigger and higher than him.
But the great-building had not given a happiness for Aleksander Timofeevich. It caused his death. People says, that in the housewarming day merchant had learned, that he is a bankrupt. In this day he drank some alcohol and jumped out from balcony.
No one knows whether it was a deliberate act. This fact is still a mystery of the Big Karev's House.
After the House's author's death the building has started to live his own life and became an important part of the Uralsk city's history.
