Summary
The lecture was held in Royal Institution of London in 2002 by Nora Aniel. The topic was "A Question of Trust". I talks about trust in government. She begins with words of Confucius that three things are needed for government: weapons, food and trust. Then she claims about crisis of trust that because deception and betrayal, untrustworthy action of public servants and politicians it is hard and risky to believe. Moreover, she tells result polls of the experts of the crisis of trust that nowadays less trusted are journalists of the newspaper and more trusted are television news presenters. Also, she adds that sociologists suggest that there is nothing to reduce risk crisis of trust and we live in a risk society. In conlusion, she said that political institutional, professional life can’t go well if we constantly uproot them because everything is trustworthy.
Reflection and critical comments
Analyzing the whole lecture, there is one main idea which is based on lecturer’s points, examples and facts that trust is more important thing in government. The speaker could explain the main idea, give very good examples. However, she did not explain about the result polls and give strong arguments when she said that it is har and risky to trust politicians. In general, it is interesting lecture that
