Project: The local partner organization “GrupaKobra” has put a lot of effort in the past years in developing and improving life conditions in local community.They are involved in encouraging youth activism and environmental protection since 2007. Although young, they received twice an award for their activities from the national Ministry of Youth and Sport. Since 2009 they renovated and adapted for their activities the ruined Youth center and turned it into a Cultural center. It has been three years that they are organizing international workcamps. This year, for the very first time, Group Kobra will organize spring camp with the aim to familiarize the local young people with their peers from other countries as they do not have opportunities to travel. Gatherings and activities together with the local youth are essential to this workcamp.The hosts would use the opportunity to present their local community, tradition and customs and, together with the participants of the camp, to encourage rural development, youth mobility and intercultural understanding.

Work: Having an international group in the village will attract people to interact, make friends, so it is more likely that the impact to the local community in terms of environmental awareness will be greater and that the interaction through work and many cultural and social events.Members of Group Kobra, from this year, among the programs for young people, culture, sport and environmental, willintroduce a new program for agriculture and rural development. Our idea is to produce healthy food which will be used as a food for volunteers on our camps (we have three planed camps in 2015). Our field will be visited by pupils and teachers from local elementary school because it is going to be an experimental field with variety of plants. We want to introduce the concept of permaculture. We want to apply modern methods of soil treatment and plant production with the aim to show to people of Donja Toponica and Donja Trnava new way how to produce food.Participants of this camp will also have an opportunity to present their countries and cultures, also experiences with organic food production and permaculture in their countries, through the events that will be organized during the camp for local people. Our experience proves high level of interaction with local people and foreign volunteers, not only through the work, but also through the informal gathering.

Accommodation and food: in the local Cultural Centre on mattresses or in tents next to the Cultural Centre (the choice is free). Please bring your own sleeping bags. Food will be prepared by the volunteers. In the Cultural Centre there are kitchen, three toilets, a shower and one hall for leisure time.Cultural Centre is located in the center of the village of DonjaToponica, next to the bus station. Working place is just about 50 m far away from Cultural Centre.

Location and leisure: DonjaToponica (15 km from Nis) is a village of merely 350 inhabitants, situated very close to Nis, one of the biggest cities of Serbia. Excursions to a mountain village Radmirovac, which is full of natural beautyand city of Nis, will be organized. www.discoversoutheastserbia.com

Extra fee: 25€. It is used as an addition to the workcamp budget, for additional excursions and material for work.
