Red stands for the struggle against the British occupation of Egypt

White symbolizes the advent of the 1952 Revolution, which ended the monarchy without bloodshed.

Black symbolizes the end of the oppression of the people of Egypt at the hands of the Monarchy and British colonialism

Cuisines of Egypt

Egyptian cuisine is notably conducive to vegetarian diets, as it relies heavily on vegetable dishes. Though food in Alexandria and the coast of Egypt tends to use a great deal of fish and other seafood, for the most part Egyptian cuisine is based on foods that grow out of the ground. Meat has been very expensive for most Egyptians throughout history, so a great number of vegetarian dishes have been developed.

1 You would normally remove your shoes before entering.

2 Dress well and conservatively. Appearances are important to Egyptians.

3 Compliment the host on the house.
