Fall Advising and Orientation Program

Fall Advising and Orientation is two week program designed to welcome new students to the KIMEP University community that offers a carefully planned workshop sessions. Some of the workshops are mandatory and others are optional.
This program is full of sessions and activities. There are concurrent but separate student and parent programs. While at Fall 2014 Orientation, participants will learn about the wide variety of student activities and services at KIMEP and have many opportunities to ask questions as well as learn about the campus culture and student life.
It is a campus expectation that all new first-year students attend Orientation.
Goal: To establish a welcoming environment that creates a sense of belonging and community and acclimate students to the academic and co-curricular programs and resources to insure student success
Target group: Fall Advising and Orientation Program information varies between first year students, transfer students, exchange students, non-degree, readmitted students and newly admitted graduate students.
I. Opening Ceremony (Great Hall)
9:00 – 9:40 Registration of Students and Parents
9:40-10:00 Faculty, Students and Parents enter the Great Hall and take their seats.
10:00 Dr. Bang, Dr. Gissy, Dr. Landis and Akzhol Urazalin, KSA President enter the Great Hall and take their seats
10:00-10:05 the Anthem of Kazakhstan
10:05-10:20 Welcome Speech by Dr. Bang, President of KIMEP
10:20 – 10:25 Speech by Dr. Gissy, Vice President of Strategic Planning, Development and Research
10:25-10:30 Speech by Dr. Landis, Vice President of Academic Affairs
10:30-10:35 Speech by Akzhol Urazalin, KSA President
10:35 – 10:40 the students’ Anthem (Gaudeamus)
II. Coffee break: 10:40 -11:15
III. Program for undergraduate students: 11:15-14:30
15 minutes for the informal discussion on each corner
Group 1 BCB corner: (next to the Dorm bld.)
Group 2 CSS corner: (next to the Dorm bld.)
Group 3 Law School: (next to the Dorm bld.)
Group 4 IRO corner: (next to the NAB)
Group 5 IRO corner for exchange students: (next to the NAB)
Group 6 LC corner: (next to the NAB)
Group 7 Student Organizations corner: (next to the Hal #1 and #2 V. Bld.)
Group 8 Soccer corner: (Soccer field)
Group 9 Tennis: (next to the Dostyk bld.)
Group 10 Scooter (Next to the soccer field)
Group 11 Frisbee (Green area next to the Great Hall)
Group 12 Rope (Green area next to the Great Hall)
Each volunteer will be responsible for his/her group. After informal discussions and/or entertainment session students should join the Campus Tour
Campus Tours (15 min)
Group 13 Campus tour starts from Dostyk bld. (BCB), Fan club, LC, Sport Center, Library,
NAB (Law School), Dormitory, SLSC, Valikhanov. Bld.(CSS), KIMEP Grill.
Group 14 Campus Tour starts from Sport Center, NAB (Law School), Library, Dormitory,
SLSC, Valikhanov bld.(CSS), KIMEP Grill, Dostyk bld (BCB), LC, Fan Club.
Group 15 Campus Tour starts from NAB (Law Scool), Library, Dormitory, SLSC,
Valikhanov bld. (CSS), KIMEP Grill, Dostyk bld (BCB), Fan club, LC.
Group 16 Campus Tour starts from Library, NAB, Dormitory, SLSC,
Valikhanov bld. (CSS), KIMEP Grill, Dostyk bld (BCB), Fan club, LC, Sport Center
Group 17 Campus Tour starts Dormitory, SLSC, Valikhanov bld.(CSS), KIMEP Grill,

Group 18 Campus Tour starts from SLSC, Valikhanov bld.(CSS), KIMEP Grill,
Dostyk bld (BCB), LC, Fan club, Sport Center, Library, NAB (Law School),
Dormitory.
Group 19 Campus Tour starts from Valikhanov bld. (CSS), KIMEP Grill,
Dostyk bld.(BCB), LC, Fan club, Sport Center, Library, NAB (Law School),
Dormitory, SLSC.
Group 20 Campus Tour starts from Fan Club, Sport Center, Library, NAB (Law School),
Dormitory, SLSC, Valikhanov. Bld.(CSS), KIMEP Grill, LC, Dostyk bld.
After Campus Tour student will go to the designated corners. Each volunteer will be responsible for his/her group.
14:30-17:00 Students who did not register for the courses for Fall 2014 semester will come to the SLSC to register for the courses and Orientation Workshop Sessions.
IV. Program for graduate students: 10:40-13:00 in NAB
V. Program for Parents: 11:00 – 12:00
