Introduction

Good morning everyone! My name is Ivanova Ekaterina. I’m an

Assistant of Production Director. Today I’m going to talk about

Converse shoes.

I’ve divided my presentation into 4 parts.

First, I’d like to give you some general information about Converse.

Second, I’ll consider the Converse’s current situation on the market.

Then I’ll give you a sales description of the company. After that I’ll

come closer to the product which is called Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

Main body

1. So, let’s start our presentation with some general information

about Converse. This is an American company which was set up

by Marquis M.Converse in 1908 in Massachusetts.

First the main products that the company produced were family

shoes for summer and winter time. Two years after the foundation

of the company more than 4 million pairs of shoes were

manufactured every day. Sport shoes appeared only after 1915 in

the company's range, after the launch of running shoes for tennis.

Nowadays this company continues developing rapidly. It produces

& sells not only shoes but clothes & accessories too. Converse

Sneakers are essential part of style of youth subcultures: hippies, punks, hipsters, etc.

2. Let’s turn our attention to the 2^nd part of the presentation –

Converse’s current situation on the market.

Nowadays Converse is involved in sport shoes production area.

According to the “Top of the 10 most famous sport shoes brands”

our company is in the 5^th place.

And now lets turn our attention to the pie-chart.

As we can see our main competitors are Adidas, Puma, Reebok &

Nike. More than 60% of the shares of this market belongs to them.

30 % belongs to Nike, Adidas owns 20 % of share, Reebok takes

10% of market share & only 5% belongs to Puma.

4. And now let’s come closer to the product Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

1917 is a really important year in the history of the company, this

year was the start of a special launch of Converse basketball shoes

which were called Converse All Star.

Soon the famous basketball player Charles H. "Chuck" Taylor from

«Akron Firestones» team began to play this game only in Converse shoes.

In 1918, Taylor helped this company to advertise this model of shoes.

1. Laces are made of synthetic materials.

2. Soles are made of high-quality caoutchouc.

3. And this part of sneakers is made of cotton lined with a thin layer

of leather inside of shoes

4. This type of shoes is unisex. It’s suitable for men & women.

5. Chuck Taylor All-Stars shoes are produced in plants in Vietnam.

6. These shoes are sold in all usual sizes – from 36 to 44.

Summary

To sum up, today I’ve given general information about Converse,

I’ve described company’s situation on the market and its sales &

I’ve talked about Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

Conclusion

In conclusion I’d like to say that Converse is one fast-developed

multinational companies with a long history which has sold million

pairs of shoes & we hope that you’ll contribute us.
