Place: Badalona, Spain

Beginning: November 2015/ August 2016

Duration: 10 months

Limit to apply: 20^th of October

Ambit: Activities with youth, participation in marketing and promotion, support to the coordination tasks, English workshops for youth, open activities for the local community and generally in the different proposals of the organization

Responsibility of the volunteer:

Volunteer will work in team with the staff of professionals and other volunteers of La Rotllana. s/he will take part in all the activities proposed in the youth center, and will take part in the organization, proposals and realization of new activities open to local community of youngsters, together with the team. In particular:

MARKETING AND PROMOTION:

Volunteer will have the opportunity to learn new skills in communication and promotion of the organization or to improve his/her own previous skills.

Promotion will be done in our web page, facebook and other canals.

SUPORT TO THE COORDINATION

Volunteer will participate in the general coordination and administrative tasks, having the opportunity to have overview of the organization, and not only of one project

YOUTH CENTER: SPORT ACTIVITIES

Volunteer will have the opportunity to:

- participate in non-formal education activities with youth and teenagers.

- participation in the implementation and monitoring of socio-educational projects.

- Participation in sports, social, cultural with adolescents and youngsters

- Participation in our sport section, giving support to lead our “football league” and our Korfball school

- Involvement in Education project. Participation in networking with the educational community, with territorial entities, and other entities in the sector, and international.

- Make concrete proposals for workshops, games, dynamics.

- Search for links and networking internationally, especially with their country of origin and the organizations you know.

- Promotion of their culture of origin, language, and traditions.

- Organization of English workshops for youth

Profiles of the candidates

Volunteer shouldn’t have a particular qualification but must be interested to have a confront at intercultural context and with the third sector, must be motivated to engage in support of the mission of the organization (which pursues the abatement of stereotypes, racism, and social exclusion) and show an open attitude to learning especially experiential (learning by doing).

We are looking for a person with experience in volunteering in contexts of social exclusion, who really likes working with children and young people, flexible and interested in outdoor activities.

Information about hosting country:

Badalona is emplaced on the Mediterranean coast, and was founded by the Empire Romano. Its development evolved from the sea to the pre-coastal mountain range, with a current population of about 220,000 inhabitants.

The history of our city has been closely linked to the migratory movements of Spanish state inmates, the end of the 20s, and later 60 and 70. This story as a welcoming city population of nearly all geographical origins of the Spanish state has deeply the singularity of the city, from urban characterization, to its social network.

In the decades of the 90s, and 2000 the city returned to experience migration processes, this time with population from all parts of the world, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, attracted by labor and economic conditions in Spain at that

times.

Nowadays the city is suffering the effects of the current socioeconomic crisis, aggravated in the most popular competition for social services among the groups of population most affected by the crisis. Precisely in these environments, and with most relevant social needs, is where our organization tries to have more incidences, bringing his experience to changing the environment, and itineraries enabling young people for social inclusion. In this moment, the unemployment rate in the city exceeds the national average of 27% of the active population, and the youth unemployment rate also exceeds the average National 52% reaching 55%. These circumstances increase the need to promote dynamics and social initiatives in the environment to break exclusion and offer mobility options for young people.
