If you have lost your job and want to find one or just going to change a career you become a job-hunter. One of the ways of looking for a new position is to apply to employment agency. There are state employment agencies that do not receive fees for finding jobs for people. They interview applicants without appointment, spend a few minutes with each one – as a rule they offer non-skilled work. There are also private agencies which deal with high-salaried jobs. Their services require payment and they may be able to see only a few applicants a day.

Another way of finding job is to study the ads of job opportunities being published in newspapers. But mind! Solid companies place ads in prestigious expensive publications with firm reputation.

The structure of such ad is usually the same: the name of the company, the position they need, the list of professional duties and the system of compensation and benefits. The demand of foreign language knowledge may prove to be the most important. Usually the free command of language is needed – to deal freely with foreign manager, compile documents and speak on the phone.

When you find an appropriate position, the next step for you will be a job interview. The preparation for job interview must include three aspects: writing an effective resume, collecting information about your target company and rehearsing. The last is necessary to create a precedent for yourself to fall back on.

Job interview is a stressful experience, so it would be useful to think of some possible questions and possible answers to them. During the interview try to behave positively with assurance, be flexible and speak honestly and straightforwardly.

Your research of the company need not be in depth. Practically all the information is available on the Internet. You should learn how long your company has been in the market; what fields of the activities it covers; what countries its operations are in; who the competitors are.

A few extra pieces of advice are the following: a) let as many people as possible know that you are a job hunter b) stress your experience and qualification for the vacancy c) don’t discuss your past - think and talk only about future.
