SUMMARY OF WORK

The American Center Moscow (AMC) is seeking an enthusiastic Coordinator to provide cultural information about the U.S. to the community through the facilitation of AMC library services and development of/participation in AMC cultural programming. This position works closely with AMC patrons, assisting them with library services such as book circulation responsibilities and information requests, as well as planning and delivering programs on various cultural issues and topics that reflect the AMC mission and goals. The position is full-time and works on a varying schedule, including evenings and weekends.

 

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

· University degree or specialized secondary education

· Experience working in a library or cultural center

· Excellent spoken and written English

· Strong information research skills

· Excellent computer skills, including ability to use Excel, social media websites, electronic databases and search engines

· Good communication and customer service skills and desire to interact with patrons and visitors of all ages and backgrounds

· Attention and adherence to detail, accuracy, timeliness, tact and confidentiality

· Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team

· Enthusiasm for American culture and cross-cultural development between U.S. and Russia

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the American Center Director and in coordination with designated staff members, Coordinators perform the following duties:

 

I. LIBRARY SERVICES

- Provide quality customer service to patrons, including: check-out/check-in of library books and materials; collect and update patron information; issue library cards

- Answer information requests by phone, in person and by letter/email and conduct comprehensive searches using the Internet, online databases and AMC library collection

- Maintain order of and develop book/materials collection

- Collect and maintain necessary AMC statistics and reports

 

II. CULTURAL PROGRAMMING

- Assist with and develop AMC programs and events, such as cultural nights, movie showings, speakers series, discussion clubs and art exhibits

- Promote AMC activities and schedule of events through public outreach and networking

- Maintain close and regular contact with U.S.-government-sponsored program alumni groups

- Expand AMC presence and services on AMC website

- Conduct excursions of the AMC and give presentations to visitors

- Assist with publications, announcements and information related to AMC activities, as assigned
