Supported by the Kyiv City State Administration, Foundation for Effective Governance and Financial Times Kyiv are hosting the first Kyiv Investment Forum

he Forum will be held on March 29 at the Intercontinental Hotel. More than 300 participants have already confirmed their participation in the Forum

The main purpose of this Forum is the presentation of investment projects by the Kyiv City State Administration and representatives of business. Such projects are of great importance not only for future economic prosperity of Kyiv, but also for the welfare of the inhabitants of the city. Events like Kyiv Investment Forum are of great interest to potential investors. The event will include road show and discussion of the projects. "Many investors expressed interest in the Kyiv Investment Forum; we expect the arrival of participants from 15 countries worldwide. This suggests that Kyiv is attractive for investment. Kyiv, being the financial and business center of Ukraine, can also become Ukraine's investment capital. 49% of all investments in Ukraine are investments in Kyiv," said A. Popov.

Today, now that the Kyiv 2025 Development Strategy has been passed, Kyiv authorities are putting great effort into implementing the key tasks set forth therein. The primary tasks are to attract investment to upgrade infrastructure, develop public transport and business parks, and create the infrastructure for sports and recreation. "This Forum proves that the Kyiv 2025 Development Strategy is a pragmatic and ready-to-use tool. It will help Kyiv become a European- level capital within the next 15 years," said Managing Director of the Foundation for Effective Governance Natalia Izosimova.

The main goal of the Forum is to serve as a platform for dialog among representatives of foreign and local business and Kyiv City State Administration. The city authorities have been actively engaged in attracting investment. They have recently modernized the whole investment process, which now operates on a "One-Stop Shop" principle. The activities of two Kyiv investment agencies have been put back on track. At the heart of the Kyiv Investment Forum is the presentation of a number of diverse anchor projects that the city plans to undertake in order to accelerate Kyiv's development as a modern urban center. These projects include construction of the fourth subway line and multi-level parking lots, economic development through the Kyiv-City international business area, and technology infrastructure development through the BIONIC HILL innovation park. The last two projects are deemed the most promising.

The Kyiv-City project is seen by Kyiv City State Administration as key to resolving a number of challenges faced by the capital today. One of the infrastructure] legacies of the Soviet era is the absence of a designated central business district that would serve as the financial hub of newly independent Ukraine. Also, Kyiv-City should provide A-grade commercial property for business of all sizes, as the capital has been having trouble keeping up with demand. Kyiv-City is expected to offer 50,000jobs and be easily accessible by public transportation. The price for all this is an estimated USD l-2bn to be done in partnership with private interests. The BIONIC Hill project, meanwhile, addresses the need for a business-innovation center that would accommodate Ukrainian and foreign companies operating in high technology, business incubators, venture funds, banks, and other organizations that provide service support to the business sector. The project includes a research center with modern laboratories, specialized university and high-tech industrial zone. The infrastructure would also provide housing, hotels, restaurants, sports facilities, schools and recreation areas. BIONIC Hill is expected to offer 35 000 jobs Industry projects will also be introduced along with anchor projects. These are divided into four categories: world-class infrastructure for transportation and utilities, IT innovations, centers for business and tourism and leisure, and health of Kyiv residents.
