Dear Diana,

On behalf or Team Cleveland (Ohio, USA) I would like to thank you for your outstanding service to our team during our recent visit to Ufa for the 6^th International Children’s Winter Games. We had a wonderful experience in Ufa and you were an essential part of our team throughout the week. I would like to thank you for your kindness, dedication and thoughtful attention to our needs from the time you greeted us until our final day. Your language skills in English are outstanding and your problem-solving and organizational skills were no less valuable in helping us to navigate Ufa and make the most of our visit.

I would like to highlight a few examples where your service went “above and beyond” what would be expected of a volunteer interpreter:

First, you were extremely helpful in helping us to negotiate with race officials at the Biathlon center to make sure we had all the necessary information, were aware of any schedule changes and assured that our athletes would be able to compete as a team in the mixed relays, a major concern given our roster changes. You also greatly helped us with translation for the 3-4 interviews by local media including coordination of an appearance on a local tv variety show and press conference.

You were also extremely helpful in arranging excursions for our team in Ufa, providing interpretation for our guide Vladmir and sharing your own knowledge of Bashkir culture and Ufa history. It was clear that you were not only interested in helping us but making sure that we had a very positive experience. We only wish we could do the same for you and any visitors from your city to Cleveland!

Finally, with our team spread across two venues at the same time, you were outstanding in making sure that communication was fluid among our Nordic and Alpine team and support crew. You made it so that nobody was ever concerned about being in the right place at the right time and even arranged an early trip to the Nordic venue so that we would have time to wax skis and get ready. This definitely went above and beyond your role and made it so we had a very good race day.

We are extremely grateful for your help and hope that the whole experience was a positive on for you, the organizers and your city. We felt supported from day one of the event and for that we cannot thank you enough. We love Ufa! It was a truly great experience for our athletes and coaches. Thank you.
