Probably one of the first contemporary artists was El Lissizty, He used collage to propagandize communism. He studied architecture, even thou that he architecture he started to illustrate children books. El Lissitky was strongly influenced by art of Chagal and popular prints. Lissitzky was working with Malevich and this two artists were collaborating in the Unovis group. First of his abstract works Lissizky called Prouns, as 'the interchange station between painting and architecture'. He was kind of an ambassador between USSR and Germany.

His latest works are bright example of political collage. Way he used art to propagandize communism is really interesting. His way of using collage as weapon against political regime is really fascinating. I cant call a collage in traditional way, this work is more about usage of geometrical shape to show an idea of opposition.

John Heartfield pioneered photomontage as an art form and political weapon. Mainly he was working during Second World War. On my opinion his work ‘Adolf the superman, swallows gold and spots out junk’ is good example of the work that he was doing. For this work John heartfield was under the threat of assassination. John Heartfield had a strong believe in an idea that art wasn’t to glorify the artist, but to serve the common good. John Herartfield was working in dark room so his work is a combination of images layered. As well on John Heartfield’s work we can se an idea of distorting information though layering images on each other. John Hearfield consistently considered by art historians to be among the most influential artists of the twentieth century. John Heartfield blames greed and capitalism in the horros that he witnessed in First World War. John Herartfield had a great influence on dada.

His political collages showed the world a true nature if political regime

Peter Kennard is working in dark room as well. His work has strong political influence. Peter Kennard is against any political regime; he is nihilist of the government. His works aimed to provoke and discredit government as it is. Even thou that Peter Kennard against government, he supports an idea of peace. On my opinion his work aimed to show the world that we are doing something wrong and we should save our fragile nature
