You are the Customer Services Manager at the Music Supershop in Wimbeldon. You have received a letter from Ms Smith, Head of Music at Carshalton Highschool for Girls in Sutton, asking if a party of



1. Situation:

You are the Customer Services Manager at the Music Supershop in Wimbeldon. You have received a letter from Ms Smith, Head of Music at Carshalton Highschool for Girls in Sutton, asking if a party of 15 Year 8 girls could visit your shop. The girls are all working on a special project about music groups and songs. She suggests Friday 31 st June.

Task:

Write a memo to your assistant Miss Penny Wise. Inform her of Ms Smith's request. Ask her to contact Ms Smith directly to arrange the details of the visit. As there are colourful information packs especially for teenagers available, ask Penny to find out if these would be of use for the girls and to let you know when the visit will take place.

2. Situation:

You work for ‘Go for it', a small company with 20 employees. You are responsible for ordering stationery and office supplies for the company. On Monday you will place an order for the next two months as you are going on a holiday and need to know what to order.

Task:

Write a memo to all members of staff. Tell them that you will place an order for stationery and office supplies on Monday. Ask them to let you know what exactly they need and remind them to note down the amount, colour etc. of the articles to be ordered. Remind them that there is a maximum of £50 per employee and that you have a price list of all articles in case they need any prices.

 

3. Situation:

You are Training Officer at Direct Insurances Ltd. You have arranged a three-day training session for the employees of your Call Center and have already sent out the schedule for the training session. You have just received a message that the hotel you booked has been closed due to a problem with the electricity net.

Task:

Write a memo to all staff attending the training session. Inform them of the situation. Tell them that you have already arranged another hotel and give them directions to get there. Apologise for the change in plan.

4.Situation:

You are the telephone receptionist at Floral Displays Ltd. The Mayor's Chief Secretary, Ms Littelton, has just telephoned you. The town hall has not yet been decorated although they need the decoration by 6 pm. As it is already 4 pm they need flowers and floral designers immediately. Another decoration team must be sent as soon as possible.

Task:

Write a memo to the Sales Assistant, Marc William, so that he can make the arrangements. You may invent any details that you feel are necessary.
