Scarlet fever is an infectious disease which most commonly affects 4-8 year old children.

 

 

Symptoms

- A sore throat.

- A temperature.

- Headache.

- Feeling generally unwell.

- A rash that develops within 12 hours of the onset and rapidly becomes generalised.

- The face is spared, but cheeks are flushed, and the child looks 'scarlet' except for the area around the mouth.

- The tongue has a thick, white coating that peels after four or five days, producing a red strawberry appearance.

 

 

 

Chicken pox

Chickenpox (or chicken pox) is a highly contagious disease caused by primary infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV). It usually starts with vesicular skin rash mainly on the body and head rather than at the periphery and becomes itchy, raw pockmarks, which mostly heal without scarring. On examination, the observer typically finds lesions at various stages of healing.

 

 

Symptoms

- A red, itchy rash, initially resembling insect bites, on your face, scalp, chest and back

- Small, liquid-filled blisters that break open and crust over

- Fever

- Abdominal pain or loss of appetite

- Mild headache

- General feeling of unease and discomfort (malaise) or irritability

- A dry cough

- Headache.

 

Rubella

Rubella, commonly known as German measles, is a disease caused by the rubella virus. The name "rubella" is derived from Latin, meaning little red. This disease is often mild and attacks often pass unnoticed. The disease can last one to three days. Children recover more quickly than adults.

 

Symptoms

- Swollen lymph glands behind the ears and/or neck.

- Tiredness

- Muscle and body aches

- Headache

- Red, watery eyes (pink eye).

 

 

Measles

Measles (also sometimes known as English measles), also known as morbilli, is an infection of the respiratory system caused by a virus.

- High fever

- Hacking cough

- Swelling of the eyelids

- Droopiness of the eyelid

- Scratchy sensation on the eyeball

- Blurred vision
