PCM-15 line signal is organized into the multiframes (MF) and every multiframe consists of 16 frames (F). Each PCM-15 frame consists of 16 channel time slots (TS) with numbers 0,1,…15. Each channel time slot consists of eight bits.

TS-0 is informational and serves for transmission of sampled signal by means of PCM code combinations and transmission of service information.

Multiframe alignment signal (MFAS) is transmitted in every 1st bit of TS-0 and the last 3 bits of TS-0 contain the frame alignment signal (FAS). Fifth bit in TS-0 of all frames transmits the signal of discrete information (DI). All others TS transmits PCM code combinations.
