1 -Hello!

-Hello, Roger. It's Laurence.

-Laurence? I haven't heard from you for ages! How are you?

-Fine! We've just got back from a few days away with some relatives down on the coast. Anyway, how are things with you and Millie?

-Great… fine… everything's fine. We've got all Millie's sisters round for lunch at the moment.

2 -John, is Daniela still here?

-Well, she was here. Perhaps she's just gone home. She left about ten minutes ago.

-Oh, never mind. I'll talk to her tomorrow.

3 -What's the matter?

-It's my glasses…have you seen my glasses anywhere?

-I don't know if I have… I can't believe you've lost them again!

-Okay, so I've lost my glasses! Will you help me look for them, please?

4 - Would you care to come around tomorrow?

Thank you very much, but I have just arranged to visit some tourist sites tomorrow.

-Then how about Sunday?

-Yes. That’s fine.

-Can I offer you a lift? I’ll come to collect you at your hotel at 10.30.

- That’s very nice of you.

5 -Do you smoke, Bob?

-No, I used to smoke.

-Do you drink?

-Not, not now. I used to drink. I’m married now and I have four children. I can’t afford to drink and my wife can’t allow me to smoke.

6 -What do you think of Agatha Cristie?

-She is famous for her detective stories.

-Have you read her books?

-Yes, of course. I think, they are worth reading.

7 -Why are you working on Saturday?

-Because we must get ready for the conference next week.

- Who is responsible for the conference? You?

-No. Henry is responsible for all.

♫ 8 -What are you going to do this evening? Are you going to study English?

-No, I’m not. I studied English yesterday. I’ m going to watch TV tonight.

♫ 9 -Are going to cook spaghetti this week?

-No, I’m not. I cooked spaghetti last week, and I don’t like to cook spaghetti very often.

♫ 10 -Is Mark going to buy a new car this year?

-No, he isn’t. He hasn’t enough money because he bought a motorcycle last month.

♫ 11 -Are you going to eat cookies for breakfast?

-No, thank you, I’m on diet. I’m going to drink a glass of milk.

♫ 12 -Mary, will you be able to help me this evening?

-No, I won’t but I’ll be able to help you tomorrow.

-John, can you help me?

-I am sorry. I can’t help you today or tomorrow. But I’ll be able to help you the day after tomorrow.

-Harry, what about you? Can you help me?

-I don’t think so. I won’t be able to help you until I see you next week.

-What helpful friends!

13 -I want to take a photo.

-You can’t take photos in the museum.

-Who can’t?

-No one can. You must leave cameras at the main entrance.

-Who? Everyone?

-Yes, everyone.

14 -Did you enjoy your job in the department store?

-Yes, it was fun.

-Did you speak English all the time?

-Yes, it’s the best way to learn.

♫ 15 -I don’t know what to do and where to go.

-Take yourself to the cinema.

-I haven’t got money.

-Visit a friend.

-I don’t know who to visit. I haven’t got any friends.

-Take the dog for a walk.

-No, I’d rather do nothing.

16 -Have you seen my bag?

-Where did you leave it?

- Right here under my desk. But it's not there now.

-When did you last see it?

-This morning.

-Oh, no! Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

-I think someone has stolen it.

-That's right. I think someone has stolen your bag.

17 Helen: So? You are flying to Cork, right?

Bob: Yeah, right.

- Well, Cork itself is worth looking around – there’s a nice cathedral

there. There’s so much beautiful scenery to see – the lakes and the mountains. You’ll love it! You’ll find the people terribly friendly in all those little places – and they love Americans, Bob!

- Sounds great!

- And we’re very famous for our eloquence and our ability to talk.

- That’s fantastic. Thank you very much for your help.

- You’re welcome. I hope you have a great trip!
