1. Введение в ситуацию (предполагаемый фрагмент реальной жизни)

Hello, girls and boys! Nice to meet you! I hope you are O.K. today.

You remember that on the 14th of February you took part in the contest “British Bulldog.”

It was the 1st round. Your works were very good. Now you are in the 2nd round.

The sponsor of “British Bulldog” is London Tourist Agency.

All the winners will go to London. That’s why here are two cameras recording the second round. Do you want to go to London? And who doesn’t, I wonder?

 

Определение конечной цели урока

The winners will go to the capital of Great Britain, if we do the main task; to write a letter to London Tourist Agency about your last holiday or weekend.

It is not easy. The agency has sent envelopes with tasks for us. They will help us to get ready for the main task.

For every right answer you'll get a point and I’ll mark it in this table.

 

And the end of the lesson we'll see who will be the top-scorer.

1) Let's open the 1st envelope.

London Travel Agency wants to know:

 

  1. Where do you usually go on summer holidays or weekend?
  2. You have been to different places, haven't you?

Name these places.

  1. What places did you go to last year or weekend?
  2. What are you going to visit next year?

 

 

a) For every right answer you'll get a point and we'll see the Leader.

To answer the questions you are to use these sentences:

I have already been to…

Last year (weekend) I went go…

Next year (…) I'm going to visit…

(Translate sentence by sentence)

b) The agency wants to see if you know these words.

If I were in your shoes, would say:

- Next year I'm going to visit the resort.

 

Don't use the same words, but you can use them in different sentences… Let's count your score.

2) It's time to open the 2nd envelope.

The tourist agency takes people to the seaside, to the mountains or lakes and island using different means of transport and they want to know if you can say how to get to the…..

The pictures are on the black board, but the words are here. Help me to attach them to the black board near the corresponding means of transport. Read after me,

Чтобы сказать по-английски «Я езжу на поезде, на машине…» (т.е. на чем) отсутствие падежных окончаний, существующих в русском языке, в словах train, car и т.д. англичане компенсируют предлогом by: by car, by train…

 

I usually go to the seaside by train.

But pay attention to the word-combination on foot. What is the Russian for the word foot (on, on foot)? It's funny, isn't it?

So, think of as many sentences as you can using these sentences, places of interest and the ways to get there.

Don't forget about the score.

 

3) The 3d envelope.

 

While travelling people often get tired. Dancing and singing help tourists to feel better. That’s why the tourist agency wants to know if you can sing and dance. Let's try to do it looking at the screen. I'm sure you remember the melody of the song «This is the way…». But the words are different.

  1. This is the way I ride my bike,

Ride my bike, ride my bike,

This is the way I ride my bike

Every spring in our school yard.

 

  1. This is the way I fly by plane,

Fly by plane, fly by plane,

This is the way I fly by plane

Every summer to the seaside.

 

  1. This is the way I go on foot,

This is the way I go on foot

Every autumn to the lakes.

 

  1. This is the way I go by train,

Go by train, go by train,

This is the way I go by train

Every winter to meet Santa.

 

Super! Great! Everybody gets two points

 

4) The 4th envelope. Don’t forget about our final task to write a letter about

- the place you visited or going to visit

- the means of transport you can use

- what you did in that place or are going to do there.

 

Ex.12, p.217 will help us to do the final task.
