March 1 residents of Wales and the Welsh around the world celebrate St David, the patron saint of Wales.

 

 

Saint David - really existed person. The son of the prince, ruler of Powys, the grandson of the ruler of the peninsula, which is now the city of St Davids and St. David's county (Pembrokeshire). David himself was the founder and rector of the cathedral. About David survived many legends. For example, once the holy David during the sermon said that those who stand far away from him, can not hear him. Then he put a handkerchief on the ground, stepped on him and continued his speech. At this very moment the earth beneath his feet up and David turned over the parish. Now everyone could hear his words. David performed many miracles created sources in places that have always been dry, healed people of salty water sources, raised the dead. God and the angels were to him in visions. In one vision, he was told that he will leave the earthly life March 1st. Since then, he performed his duties even more earnestly than before. The prediction came true. He died March 1 601 and was buried in Pembrokeshire, in the same place, which is now the cathedral.

 

 

> In the Middle Ages Saint David was so revered that pilgrims believed that it is better to go twice Sv.Devidu than once in Rome. About 50 churches in South Wales today sanctified his name.
