It is a plain as day that travelling is an inseparable part of modern life. People travel to see other countries and continents, highly developed cities and the ruins of ancient towns, to enjoy picturesque places or just for change of scene. It is always interesting to discover new things and other ways of life, to meet different people, taste different food, examine various architectural styles, visit museums and picture galleries. Travelling is a remarkable key to understanding other cultures and a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the world we live in.

No doubt, there are lots of people whose cherished dream is to go on a trip around the world or at least to visit some of the countries that are of particular interest to them. I also have a soft corner in my heart for travelling and I hope that one day I will manage to make my dream come true.

So, the point I would start my journey around the world from is certainly Minsk. Even though the route I would choose is a little unusual, the countries and cities I'd like to visit are unique in many ways, so they really deserve going to.

First of all, I would go to St. Petersburg. The cheapest way of getting there is by train, that takes quite enough time, but the expectation of something miraculous would hardly make me feel tired. Modern St. Petersburg is the second largest Russian city after Moscow, which lies on either of the sides of the Neva and on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. St. Petersburg is rightly considered to be one of the finest cities in the world. Its straight and broad streets, large squares, magnificent architectural ensembles, granite embankments, wonderful historical and cultural memorials evoke the admiration of all visitors. There are many places of interest in the city. The Peter and Paul fortress, the State Russian Museum, the Hermitage, and of course the Cathedral of Peter and Paul which gave its name to the fortress are among them. Palace Square is the main square of St. Petersburg and it is one of the world's most interesting architectural ensembles. Its oldest building is the residence of the Russian tsars: the White Palace. In the centre of Palace Square there is the triumphal column named the Alexander Column in honour of Emperor Alexander I. Besides one can't help admiring the beauty of the Vasilyevsky Island and the busy Nevsky Avenue – the very heart of the Northern Capital of Russia.

After a day or two in St. Petersburg I would get on board the plane flying to Tokyo. In fact, the next planned point of my journey I would choose is New Zealand, but as it is known, it's impossible to get there without the stops in Tokyo and Sydney. Unfortunately, having no special visa, I won't be able to stay in the Japanese capital longer than for one day. In this case I would have to walk around the busiest city in the world, taste sushi and do the shopping rather quickly. After the Japanese brisk pace of life, Sydney will definitely seem to be not the capital city, but the countryside with sandy beaches and the peaceful atmosphere. Sydney is famous for its great Zoo that represents different species of the Australian fauna.

At last I would get to Wellington - the capital of New Zealand. Those who like museums and architectural monuments will hardly like New Zealand. There are no many sights there, but this is the country of natural beauties and extreme. Not far from Christchurch - the largest city of the country - there is a mountain-skiing resort Mount Hurt. One can also enjoy their numerous casinos and restaurants, as well as to get some experience in wind-surfing and snow-boarding.

From New Zealand the plane would take me to Brazil with the stop at Ecuador. Brazil is the largest country in South America and it has really much to offer its visitors. I suppose that while exploring this country we can't but visit Rio de Janeiro - the city of my dreams. Rio boasts an excellent scenery record and a breathtaking mountainous landscape, and huge stretches of fine sandy beaches, where both men and women wear the briefest bikinis. The most famous of the beaches is undoubtedly Capacabana, where thousands of citizens dressed in white clothes gather as a rule to celebrate New Year. One can scarcely imagine Brazil without playing football. And the strongest wish of any foreigner, who comes to Brazil is to see a football match played at the world's largest football stadium, known as Maracana. Of course it is desirable that I should be able to come to Brazil at the time when the famous carnival takes place in the country so that I could get the most and the best of my staying there.

The following stage of my trip would be going to the United States. One of the most impressive cities of such a great state as the USA is certainly New York that can easily be called the capital of the world. A magnet for most visitors to NY is Broadway - the theatre district on the West of Manhattan. This is the place to see the newest hits and the ageless classics. When we come to New York, we can see their people of different nationalities and from different countries. The entire world seems to be in NY. The symbol of this city is the Statue of Liberty and major NY's museums are the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History. A refuge from the busy pulse of the city is its Central Park, where one can find lakes, fountains, bridges, paths, tennis courts, skating rinks, playgrounds and huge lawns.

And finally, at the end of my journey before coming back home I would go to Denmark, to be more precise - to Copenhagen - the capital of the Danish Principality, which is the oldest principality in the world. Although Denmark is one of Europe's smallest countries, the clean and friendly city of Copenhagen offers a host of cultural and sightseeing opportunities. With a vast number of pedestrianized streets, the best way to go sightseeing is on foot, or we can choose a leisurely canal cruise past the colourful waterfront houses. The sights that can't be missed include Rosenborg Castle that houses the Crown Jewels, Amalienborg Palace, the Little Mermaid, the famous Tivoli Gardens with a myriad of restaurants and bars, concert halls and a fairground offering something for everyone. The Viking Museum, the Carlsberg Brewery and Fredensborg Castle which is the Queen's summer residence are also worth seeing.

So you see, I've told you about the cities and countries I want to visit immensely. They are special and different in many ways: some of them seem are very young while the others are felt to preserve the antiquity of old times in themselves. But only while comparing we can speak about any particular features of this or that country. The only thing I'm convinced of is that such a trip would broader my outlook greatly and it would teach me to appreciate the values of other nations, not to mention the great pleasure which I would get of this unforgettable journey.
