Cricket in England

It is believed that cricket was originally a child's game; adults began to show interest in cricket in the early XVII century. Over the next century cricket is rapidly gaining popularity in the south- east of England. Since then, reports on meetings preserved teams consisting of eleven players. Apparently, at this time there were the first professional cricketers. In the XVIII century English cricket has become a national sport. A big role in this rapid growth in popularity played by the fact that the quantity of bets on the meetings was not strictly limited. Wealthy citizens formed their own teams. Games collected on playgrounds crowds.

Curling in Scotland

Uniquely accurate information on occurence curling does not exist: the region could be Scotland or the north of continental Europe. First mention of the game relate to the XVI century. The Institute Smith, located in Stirling, exposed stone, the surface of which is stamped date - 1511. The first information about curling, dated February 1541, found in the chronicles of Paisley Abbey. The earliest use of the word «curling «refers to the beginning of the next century. Curling makes certain demands not only to the physical form of athletes, but also to analytical skills, ability to build a successful strategy game. It is often called chess on ice.

Shuffleboard in England

Shuffleboard - several national varieties of the game, in which wooden or metal wheels thrown, shoved or pushed by hand (at least - cue) in such a way that they stay within certain lines or coupe, marked on the table or floor. This game has its origins in the Middle Ages, was very popular in England, where, most likely, was imported from the East. Unfortunately, history has not kept accurate information about the location and time of appearance of shuffle board. In regard to the objectives, strategies and game equipment, shuffle board resembles many other games, including curling, croquet and billiards. It is possible that in the course of its history it has repeatedly been influenced by these sports.
