By the Spirit, man has throughout the Bible looked into the future, seeing ahead what God was doing for the redemption of mankind.
“God will accept all people in every nation who trust God as Abraham did. And this promise is from God himself, who makes the dead live again and speaks of future events with as much certainty as though they were already past” (Romans 4:17 TLB). The New King James version says, “... calls those things which do not exist as though they did.”
“Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42:9).
God knows everything, past, present and future, and He is sharing with us in writing and by prophesy what He is going to do. It is only by the Spirit of God that man can look into future events before they happen, but God is doing that now, just as He did long ago in Bible days. God is glorified by the obedience of man and therefore He gives forth future information before it happens.
One of the beloved pastors with whom we have worked as evangelists for years was very pressed for $265,000 which was due within about sixty days after we were with him. We could tell this was a pressure upon him, although he is a man of great faith, and is building a very expensive church facility for which he needed this large sum of money.
During a service, Frances said, “Pastor, God says not to be concerned about the $265,000, for He will cause one man to come to you on the day the money is due and write you a check for $265,000.00. Thus says the Lord!”
It was thrilling to receive an exciting call from this Pastor on the day the money was due to be paid. He said, “Just at the last minute, a man came into my study and said, ‘Pastor, how much did that lady say you would need today?” The man wrote out a donation check for $265,000.00.
How can this happen in the twentieth century? Because God tells his disciples of this end generation things they need to know when they are fully trusting Him!
Jesus told us what would happen in this generation when He promised and foretold that signs and wonders would follow those who believe; and He further said to us, “Follow Me!” Jesus did many signs and wonders, and therefore we will do many signs and wonders when we follow Him and do His work!
Since Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, He can take us back in time, forward in time, and He can tell us what to do today. He said today is the day of salvation.
God’s glory is on the earth today!
In the Old Testament, prophecies were almost all telling of the coming of Jesus to earth; some telling even further events in the future of God’s calendar. The book of Revelation and some other places in the Bible are still unfulfilled prophetic events which WILL occur because God said they would. We can be very certain that every event predicted by God will come about exactly like God foretold and will be right on time!
Many men and women of God have been used in great ways to tell about the future, as well as seeing inside people’s past by looking back in time.
What could God have ahead for us in these next few final years before Jesus comes for us?
We don’t know, but we are expecting far greater things just ahead than we have seen in the past, and in God’s perfect timing He will let us know what each of us are to do to perform our part of His plan.
