The Future Perfect Continuous Tense

The Future Indefinite Tense | Translate into English using the Future Indefinite and the Present Indefinite. | Translate the following sentences into English. The Future Perfect Continuous is used to express: 1. – an action which will begin before a definite moment in the future, will continue up to that moment and will be going on at that moment, or in other words, to emphasize the duration of an action up to a certain time in the future: Example: We’ll have been working at this problem for a month when you visit us a 2nd time. Note: - By the end of the month, he will have been training horses. (seen as a process) - By the end of the month, he will have trained two horses. (seen as completed action, often involving quantity) The Future Perfect Continuous is used with by... for. Note:After the time expressions by the time, until, before, we use the Present Indefinite because they inroduce time clauses. The Future Perfect and the Future Perfect Continuous may come either before or after the time clauses. Example: By the time they reach York, they will have been travelling for four hours.

 

Ex. 1

Read and translate the sentences. Comment on the use of the Future Perfect Continuous Tense and the Future Perfect Tense.

1. Next year I will have been living in Kyiv for thirty years. 2. Next month we shall have owned this house for ten years. 3. When he is forty, he will have been learning English for twenty-five years. 4. By the time the manager turns up, the customers will have been waiting for him for several hours. 5. He complains that by May he will have been reading “War and Peace” for five months. 6. I shall have been staying here just a year this July.

Translate into English using the Future Perfect Continuous tense.

1. До першого вересня цього року я уже десять років буду працювати в цьому університеті. 2. В липні буде рік, як вони одружені. 3. До того часу, як ти прокинешся завтра вранці, ми уже три години будем летіти над Європою. 4. В травні буде п'ять років, як він водить машину. 5. Вони будуть експериментувати в цій області уже багато років в кінці тисячоліття. 6. До того часу, як приїде поліція, детектив уже дві години буде вивчати місце злочину.
